Video: Saudi Father auctions off his son as a Suicide bomber in Syria

Here is video of a Saudi man auctioning off his son as a suicide bomber. At the 3:45 mark, attention focuses to the streets of Syria, where bombers like the one auctioned off go to blow themselves up. It’s important to note that such a bomber would be attacking the regime of Bashar al-Assad. Are these the rebels that Republican Senator John McCain is adamant about arming?

Via GWP:

That video is actually in line with what Bashar al-Assad is alleging about the makeup of the rebels.

Via Arutz Sheva:

In his first interview since December, Syrian President Bashar Assad insisted his regime is fighting back against foreign mercenaries who want to overthrow him and not innocent Syrians aspiring for democracy.

The interview with Russian TV, recorded on Tuesday and aired on Wednesday, showed that Assad is still standing his ground despite widespread international condemnation over his deadly crackdown on dissent.

“There are foreign mercenaries, some of them still alive,” Assad was quoted by The Associated Press as having said in the interview on Russian state news channel Rossiya-24. “They are being detained and we are preparing to show them to the world.”

Assad also cautioned against meddling in Syria, warning neighboring nations that have served as transit points for weapons being smuggled into the country that “if you sow chaos in Syria you may be infected by it yourself.”

If McCain really wants to arm these people, perhaps he should send suicide belts.

**UPDATE TO THIS POST** I posted this entry upon checking with one Arabic-speaking expert but now that Walid has seen it, he is less certain this video is fully what it purports to be. Here is a statement from him:

It is somewhat correct, the translation is a mixture of faulty and correct translation. Indeed its an auction over the man, but what for is unclear. The part in which the translation says they are auctioning the son is incorrect.

In short, take it with a grain of salt and know that there appears to be a bit of exaggeration.
