Rescue Christians Reunites Children with Jailed Parents

From our contact in Pakistan…

On 21st July, 2013, a new case of blasphemy was registered against a Christian couple in Gojra City. Shafaqat Masih and his wife Shagufta Bibi were falsely accused under the strict blasphemy law Under Section 295/B and 295/C bearing FIR No.407/13. Police and the complainant claimed that the couple sent a blasphemous text message from their cell phone. The police raided the Gojra Church premises and arrested Shagufta Bibi, Shafaqat Masih and their children and took them to the police station where they were severely tortured. Shafaqat, who is crippled, admitted that he and his his wife had sent the blasphemous text message in question. His lawyer denied this and stated that he just wanted to save his wife from the accusation and avoid the torture.

On 25th July, 2013, Rescue Christians took up this case and arranged to take the children to visit the parents in the District Jail Toba Tek Singh. It was a very heart-touching moment when the children and mother cried and lamented on the present situation. Even the jail police and the officials of our organization shed tears on the helplessness of these vulnerable souls. It is a very tragic situation that a crippled man who is in a wheel chair and his wife who is sadly also illiterate have been separated from their young and innocent children who are just 6,8,9 and 11 years-old. It is our humble request to everyone to come forward and help this family from this injustice.

The reason for watermarks on photos is that disreputable organizations in Pakistan may take these photos and use them to raise money but then raise money for their own purposes and not to aid victims.
