Case Study in Religious Extremism full of Sick Irony

Let’s take a look at two religious fundamentalists. One is an Eastern Orthodox Christian nun named Hatune Dogan. The other is the Executive Secretary of the Islamic Da’wa Organization (IDO), an entity led by Sudan’s Omar al-Bashir. At a minimum, this Executive Secretary heads the Kenyan IDO branch but is nonetheless associated with the Sudanese branch.

In Christianity, we have the Great Commission, as expressed in Matthew 28:

19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

Part of this Commission can be found in Matthew 25:

35 for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; 36 I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’

Similarly, Islam has proselytizing in its charter as well, via Oxford’s Islamic Studies:

Call. God’s way of bringing believers to faith and the means by which prophets call individuals and communities back to God. Militant submovements interpret dawah as calling Muslims back to the purer form of religion practiced by Muhammad and the early Muslim community.

Not only is that where the similarities end but the Great Commission and Da’wa are diametrically opposed to one another.

In both instances, each fundamentalist is expected to spread or act out his / her faith. In the case of Sister Dogan, she has decided to do what she can to help rescue persecuted Christians from Islamic fundamentalists who are torturing and murdering them. These Islamic fundamentalists – as Dogan herself has expressed – practice a strain of wahhabist Islam. This is the exact strain of Islam that the IDO Secretary is tasked with spreading. “Da’wa” often includes the distribution of Qur’ans.

Dogan has identified the Qur’an as the source Islamic fundamentalists use to justify their attacks on Christians whom she is trying to protect and rescue from a hell on earth. While relaying a story about a Muslim who rejected Christians who were once his friends, she said:

“…I will never be your friend again, for my Qur’an says so, for my Qur’an prohibits me. I am a true believer, I attend Qur’an school. My Qur’an says that I may not have friendship with infidels.”

In a separate speech, Sister Dogan explained that Christian blood is sold in Saudi Arabia for $100,000 per vial. The demand is so high because these Muslims believe that washing their hands in Christian blood leads to salvation. This is quite the dichotomy for Muslims. Many are obviously taught to reject the friendship of Christians inwardly even if expressed outwardly (taqiyya or muruna) but to embrace the blood of Christians. In essence, they inwardly reject Christians while accepting their inner lifeblood.

After relaying the story of the Muslim who rejected his Christian friends after receiving the call to Islam (Da’wa), Dogan said the following about the Wahhabist strain of Islam (8:30 mark):

“…those who believe firmly in the Qur’an, I’m talking about Wahhabi-style families… Unfortunately, the Wahhabi-families are those who shake up the world, in a negative way. They slaughter, murder, rape and kill, and consider those of different faith to be fair game for this.”

The Chairman of Sudan’s IDO is a man named Suar al-Dahab. Once the president of Sudan, al-Dahab clearly works with the current president, al-Bashir and leads a fundraising organization for Hamas known as Union of Good. Al-Bashir clearly has no problem with genocide; he’s responsible for much of it in his own country.

The IDO Executive Secretary, who works under al-Dahab, visited Skopje, Macedonia – the city of Mother Teresa’s birth – earlier this year where he received the Balkan Charter for Peace award, courtesy of the Balkan Peace Club. Upon receiving this award – first issued to the city of Skopje for giving Mother Teresa to the world – the IDO Secretary toured the Balkan region as well as Turkey.

According to Pobjeda, a Serbian newspaper, this IDO Secretary expressed an interest in becoming a Vice President of the Balkan Club of Peace.

However, who is more like Mother Teresa? This IDO Secretary or Sister Dogan? Not only should the answer to that question be self-evident but the IDO Secretary is responsible for sowing the very seeds of hatred that Sister Dogan is right now fighting to rescue its victims from. You see, this IDO Secretary is named Malik Obama; he is the half-brother of U.S. President Barack Obama. According to the confessions of Musa Ismail Obama, this Kenyan family is extremely active in sending Kenyan students to Wahhabist schools in Saudi Arabia, the very schools whose graduates Sister Dogan is trying to rescue the persecuted from.
