CNN Host Makes Case for Dangling with Lois Lerner

Ashleigh Banfield has provided Republicans with the blueprint for getting to the real IRS Scandal

One of the subplots to the ‘Bridgegate’ scandal in New Jersey that has ensnared Republican Governor Chris Christie has to do with the death of a 91 year-old woman. She died of a heart attack on the way to the hospital and was delayed as a result of the heavy bridge traffic caused by members of Christie’s staff as a form of political payback against a mayor who wouldn’t endorse the Governor.

What does this have to do with the Obamas?

While the daughter of the woman said she didn’t think the absence of a traffic jam would have led to her mother’s life being saved, CNN hostess Ashleigh Banfield toyed with the possibility nonetheless, that members of Christie’s staff could have ‘felony murder’ charges dangled in front of them to make them give up Christie.

MediaIte posted the lengthier version of the exchange between Banfield and Jake Tapper. Here are some excerpts of what Banfield said, separated by ellipses:

“Let’s not forget a 91 year-old woman died because of a medical emergency. It’s not tied at this point to that but if it can be, there could be a lot more coming… and then there can also be the very serious possibility that a death resulted from the actions of someone… an extraordinarily serious end of this could be felony murder… that’s really far-reaching. However… those are very strong words that you can dangle in front of someone who could be very scared and ultimately be persuaded to give up testimony to a higher level… that’s a really strong incentive for a low-level aide to say, ‘do not hang any kind of murder or manslaughter on me. I’ve got information.'”

Banfield went on to explain that it’s ok for investigators to lie when questioning a witness if doing so can help lead the witness into giving up more information.

Let’s introduce Lois Lerner and Malik Obama, Barack Obama’s half-brother, into the mix here. In order to make sure we’re comparing apples to apples, how about a metaphor in which Malik’s Barack H. Obama Foundation (BHOF) receiving expeditious and illegal tax-exempt status is the scandal (like ‘Bridgegate’); Lois Lerner represents, say, Chris Christie’s Deputy Chief of Staff Bridget Anne Kelly, who was fired because of what appears to be an email she sent that initiated ‘Bridgegate’; and Barack Obama is the equivalent of Chris Christie, the man at the top of it all.

Lois Lerner’s signature at the bottom of Malik Obama’s 501(c)(3) approval letter is what makes her comparison to Mary Anne Kelly so legitimate; both have their names on damning one-page pieces of evidence.

If Christie’s staff is involved in the death of the 91 year-old woman, they could be accessories to murder. Based on what we know about Malik Obama’s activities, Lerner is an accessory to terror funding based on who Malik works for and on what his money is spent. Essentially, the thing to be “dangled” in front of Lerner is that she could be tried for providing material support to an enemy combatant.

Last summer, POLITICO reported that Lerner’s lawyer said she would not testify unless she was granted immunity. Stealing a line from Banfield’s exuberant rant about getting Christie’s aids to give up their boss, it’s long past time for Republicans to “dangle” accessory to terrorism in front of Lerner to get her to give up Barack Obama. Here are a list of questions that should be asked of Lerner while under oath.

Of course, don’t expect Banfield to have enough wherewithal to see how inconsistent and / or oblivious she is. She’s a left-wing ideologue who has no interest in real journalism.

Once again, this requires Republicans in Congress to have a backbone.

Is there a way to dangle something in front of any of them that would make them produce one?
