Muslims in Pakistan attacked the Karachi airport with rocket launchers, firearms and bombs, and killed 18 people. Pakistani security forces managed to kill seven of the jihadists, but three of the terrorists blew themselves up amidst the incursion. According to Maj. Gen. Rizwan Akhtar,
Seven terrorists were killed by security forces, while three blew themselves up during the fight
A local named Usama Ahmed expressed his fear:
One thinks that the airport is a place where you can feel safe and secure, but unfortunately, it is as unsafe as the roads of Karachi. We are not safe anywhere in Karachi — not even in our homes… We all are the victims of yesterday’s event, we all have lost close ones … or have family friends who have lost relatives.
Another local named Sania Iqra blasted the Pakistani government for its incompetent security:
The government and the military should be ashamed of itself. What excuse can you give for such a security lapse?… And this isn’t the first time we have seen this in Karachi … so what exactly is safe now?
Eyewitness Sarmad Hussain recounted:
I heard fierce firing and then saw the terrorists firing at security forces… Thank God I am alive, this is very scary
The attackers entered the airport dressed as airport security and wearing fake airport security force (ASF) ID cards. As Shoebat.com’s Pakistani correspondent reports:
Sunday night Pakistan’s largest Airport in Karachi was under attack by the heavy armed Militants. According to the media reports there were 10 armed militants wearing suicide vests managed to enter Jinnah international airport in Karachi.
They entered from the Fokker gate (Service gate) with ASF fake Id cards and opened fire on the runway, they were using automatic Machine guns and Grenades.
Shahidullah Shahid, spokesman for the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan, had this message for the whole world:
This is just the beginning
