Only Turkey Can Establish The Caliphate

The declaration by the top Sunni Muslim scholar Sheikh Yususf al-Qaradawi that the caliphate in Iraq lead by Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi is null and void under Sharia law since it doesn’t comport and it is not centered in Turkey sets a prophetic stage for what is to come and what we have been saying all along.

Qaradawi is no small fry, he is the spiritual leader of the Muslim Brotherhood, he is the Khomeini of the Sunnis, and his declaration is not something to be ignored:

“We look forward to the coming, as soon as possible, of the caliphate,” Qaradawi said, of the form of pan-Muslim government last seen under the Ottoman Empire.

“But the declaration issued by the Islamic State is void under Sharia and has dangerous consequences for the Sunnis in Iraq and for the revolt in Syria,” he added.

The Arab media is all over this. Its not the ISIS that is most significant and while the eyes of the world focuses on it, it needs to pay attention that on the near horizon, the Turkish based Ottoman Empire is more noteworthy than al-Baghdadi’s declaration.

Turkey in Asia Minor cannot be ignored; it was the center of the Grecian Kingdom, the cradle of Christianity with its Seven Churches, as well as it was the eastern leg of the Roman Empire. It sits as a hub between East and West and plays the number one candidate in peace negotiations in the region. When it comes to animosity towards Israel and the Church, Turkey is the epicenter with more Christian blood on its hands then any other nation on earth.

Indeed, is it logical that Al-Baghdadi’s version of the Caliphate could persuade all Muslims in the Balkans and the Caucasus, Azerbaijan and Iran?

As we stated previously, The Caliph must a Sufi Muslim, someone who will succeed in reviving the Ottoman glory days, unite Sunni and Shiite and only Turkey has such a model and a major regional presence with significant global standing and respect. The Iraqi model of the Caliphate has set the stage for a Caliphate competition. This is why Al-Qaradawi finally had to declare what he declared.

In Istanbul, Turkey a Caliphate nostalgia for the Ottoman Empire has been on the rise as of late. The Ottoman Sultan’s seal can be found on T-shirts, advertisements, and jewelry everywhere in its old imperial capital of Istanbul. More alarmingly, the jihadists of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) are now proclaiming a new Islamic caliphate in former Ottoman provinces.

The Turkish newspaper Today’s Zaman had this to say:

“Therefore it is no coincidence to observe that some of the followers of Erdoğan believe he is a caliph who seeks to resurrect the Islamic Caliphate and the Ottoman Empire. It is no coincidence that Erdoğan’s target of “The Great Turkey” is intended to be completed in 2023 …”

The Jerusalem Post had this to say:

“Many commentators claimed that Erdogan’s recent foreign policy setbacks in the Arab world convinced him to abandon neo-Ottomanism in favor of more modest goals. But his cultivation of Iraqi Kurdistan, and his sponsorship of ISIS, al-Nusra, the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas tell a different story. Erdogan remains an Islamic imperialist. Like Iran he aims to destroy the global order and replace it with an Islamic empire.”

As we have always stated, Turkey and Iran will unite, soon. The Jerusalem Post had also this to say:

“While Turkey and Iran are rivals in undermining the international system, their goals are the same, and their strategies for achieving their goals are also similar.”

Erdogan is silent on the ISIS even though the ISIS declared a caliphate in southern Turkey. He is silent because he sees an opportuinity. Turkey’s authority and opportunities in the Middle East will assume the role of mediator in the matter of Sunni-Shiite divide which must ultimately be the goal in order to establish peace.

Turkey is a more stable state than Iraq with less internal problems and is always willing to intervene in regional crises and conflicts.

Even Jesus insisted that Pergamum (Turkey) in Revelation 2:12-13, was the seat of Antichrist and not the gymnastically altered interpretation for an archeological relic that sits in Berlin or the fanciful SciFi version of Left Behind. It is Turkey who will use the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood as we see them today using Qaradawi and it will ultimately invade Egypt:

“He will extend his power over many countries; Egypt will not escape. 43He will gain control of the treasures of gold and silver and all the riches of Egypt, with the Libyans and Cushitese in submission.” (Daniel 11:42)

Ezekiel in chapter 30 also tells us of that day “For the day is near, even the Day of the Lord is near” (Ezekiel 30:3) What nations are dealt with on that day? Not all scholars agree on the context, yet this is the Day of the Lord in which Cush and Phut, Lydia [Turkey] and all Arabia, Libya and the people of the covenant land will fall by the sword along with Egypt (Ezekiel 30:5). Other prophecies show these nations are cast into Hell, including Asshur – “Iraq – Syria”, (Ezekiel 32:22-23) Elam – “Iran” (Ezekiel 32:24-25) Meshech & Tubal “Asia minor -Turkey” (Ezekiel 32:26) – Edom – “Arabia” (Ezekiel 32:29). These are punished for striking terror against Israel and the believers (Ezekiel 32:22-24 & 27).

We tell Qaradawi to not hold his high hopes up, for Christ Himself will enter Egypt to destroy it:

“See Jehovah rides on a swift cloud and is coming to Egypt. The idols of Egypt tremble before him, and the hearts of the Egyptians melt within them.” (Isaiah 19)

the new emerging superpower is the arising sick man of Europe, the wounded beast that is coming back to life under the Turkish Neo-Ottoman revival. Turkey’s reviving empire must have an Iranian alliance to look like a lamb with two horns, and speaking like a dragon, the Islamic Turkish-Iranian dragon with its two horns will create a pincer against Israel with Iran’s horn from the East and a Turkish-Syrian horn from the North.

This is a much more dangerous scenario for Israel than Arab nationalism, or the Islamic Caliphate in Iraq, since Turkey holds the second strongest army in NATO after the U.S. and Islam can add non-Arab Muslim nations to the mix of new enemies. Turkey will lure Israel with a 7 years covenant of death (Isaiah 28:14-22) and a treaty will be signed in Egypt thinking it preserved the Egypt-Israel Camp David accord. By this “peace” Turkey “will deceive many” and “Islam” will appear as “a peaceful religion”.

Turkey and Iran are steeped in their hatred not only towards Israel, but the days for Saudi Arabia’s end is on the horizon and will be punished by the reviving beast as God will ordain it (Revelation 17:17). It was Saudi Arabia that sparked anti-Semitism from the advent of Islam until now. Arabia (Sheba and Dedan) despite that it will no longer see Israel as threat and while it stands by when Turkey invades Israel (Ezekiel 38), it will eventually be demolished by Elam (Iran) (see Isaiah 21) and Mecca and Medina will go up in flames (Isaiah 34).

Zechariah 9 confirms the final battle between Israel and Yavan (often translated as Greece), which is Asia Minor (see Jamieson-Fausset-Brown Bible commentary). Messiah will head to that direction of Turkey (v14) and defeat it and victory will be to The Lord. Amen and Amen.
