Republican Benghazi Select Committee should Depose is Distancing himself from ‘Deteriorating’ Situation in Libya

A man who should be a major focus of the House Select Committee on Benghazi is Rep. Mike Rogers (R-MI), Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee. As Shoebat.com reported recently, one way for the Committee to demonstrate it’s not partisan would be to depose Rogers and ask him some very tough questions.

Last week, Rogers pointed the finger at the Obama administration for the deteriorating situation in Libya after it was announced that the U.S. Embassy in Tripoli was being closed.

According to House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Rogers (R-Mich.), the “deteriorating security posture” that is playing out across the region “is what happens when the United States is not engaged and lacks a clear foreign policy that includes strong U.S. leadership.”

While a lack of U.S. leadership is clearly to blame for what has happened in Benghazi since 2011, what Rogers doesn’t reveal is his role in that lack of leadership.

Rogers became chairman of the House Intelligence Committee in early 2011, just as the Obama administration was establishing a policy of regime change in Libya through NATO. In June of that year, Rogers was one of only eight Republicans who voted to authorize military action to remove Gadhafi, as Shoebat.com reported.

It’s also been learned that Rogers and seven other members of Congress were recipients of a classified Annex to the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence (SSCI) report in January of this year. That Annex is said to have outlined the details of a weapons trafficking operation being run out of Benghazi that was funded by the Turks, the Saudis, and the Qataris with then CIA Director David Petraeus overseeing logistics.

This clearly indicates a covert action and based on Rogers’ own words back in March of 2011, any covert action requires his sign off, as Shoebat.com relayed.

Speaking of Qatar, Rogers appeared on Face the Nation yesterday and was asked about who is arming Hamas in its recent fighting with Israel. Rogers explained that both Iran and Qatar are providing support to Hamas, a Foreign Terror Organization (FTO). It should be underscored that Qatar and Hamas are ideological brothers to the rebels in Libya the U.S. armed to overthrow Gadhafi (h/t WFB):

It’s clear that Rogers is distancing himself from Obama when it comes to Libya but the truth is that Rogers was an enabling force for the administration when it came to the thing most responsible for the deteriorating situation in that country today – a policy of regime change in 2011.

On top of all this, Rogers appears to have had a conflict of interest when it came to Libya. In early 2011, Aegis Defense Services began a significant presence in Libya. At that time, Kristi Rogers (Mike’s wife) was vice chairman of the board of directors.

She left Aegis in December of 2012.
