Bashar Al-Assad Declares: ‘Turkey Is The Main Instigator Behind The War Between Armenia And Azerbaijan.’

By Theodore Shoebat

Bashar al-Assad declared that Turkey is the main instigator behind the war between Armenia and Azerbaijan. According to Reuters:

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad accused Turkish counterpart Tayyip Erdogan of being the main instigator in the deadliest fighting between Armenian and Azeri forces for more than 25 years.

In an interview published on Tuesday that is likely to exacerbate international frictions over the clashes in the South Caucasus region, Assad also said militants from Syria were being deployed to the conflict area.

Turkey has denied involvement in the fighting in and around Nagorno-Karabakh, a mountain enclave that belongs to Azerbaijan under international law but is governed by ethnic Armenians, and has dismissed accusations that it sent mercenaries to the area.

But Assad told Russian news agency RIA: “He (Erdogan) … was the main instigator and the initiator of the recent conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh between Azerbaijan and Armenia.”

Al-Assad also detailed:

“Turkey used these terrorists from different countries in Syria. The same method was later used in Libya. They used Syrian terrorists in that country. …It is self-evident, more than likely, that [the Turks] are doing the same in Nagorno-Karabakh … They are the ones who created this problem, this conflict. It is the Turks who encourage the escalation of the conflict. They want to achieve some goals, they use the same methods. …So we can say for sure that the Turks are using terrorists from other countries in Nagorno-Karabakh as well”

Bashar al-Assad understands the Turks because his own country has been invaded by the Turkish military in northeast Syria. It is not difficult to believe that Turkey would instigate a conflict in the Caucasus. It was indeed people within the Turkish government who wanted to instigate a conflict between Syria and Turkey by murdering Syrian soldiers without provocation; and it was officials within Turkish intelligence (MİT chief Hakan Fidan and then-Deputy Chief of General Staff Gen. Yaşar Güler) who wanted to fire shells into Turkey from Syria to create false information that Syria attacked Turkey. One can see the writing on the wall. Turkey is in Syria, Turkey is working to control the Eastern Mediterranean, Turkey is now in Azerbaijan against the Armenians (over a million of whom were slaughtered by the Ottomans during WW1); the reality is right on our faces; the Crescent is showing itself, and its sharp edge wants to eclipse the light asunder.
