EVIDENCE TO MY STORY
The litany of accusation in the media came in sequence. First I was a Lebanese Falangist. When this was proven false, then came the denial that I ever have lived in Israel. When this was proven false, then I was never in prison in Jerusalem. When this was proven false, then I was a Zionist agent doing this for money. Author Chris Hedges claims without shame that my story is a “fraud” without a single bit of confirming evidence to support his position.
You will find several articles attempting to discredit my story and my claims, none of which can respond to what you will find here. No not one. My story is a litany of personal accounts from imprisonment, an attempted lynching, a failed bombing operation of an Israeli bank, a mother that was not permitted to leave to her country (U.S), an education on anti-Semitism, terror support in the U.S, and a connection to family well linked to terrorism. These are all documented in my book “Why We Want To Kill You,” yet rest assured that nothing can be refuted in an entire book no matter what my critics write. Everything I stated is true. These attempts to discredit my story came through my Muslim family and relatives who are either involved in aiding and abetting terrorism, financial terrorism, or actual bombings in Israel.
Enough: Below is evidence proving the activities of Al-Mughrabi and myself, evidence many claim does not exist.
FIRST MY LINK TO TERRORISTS
Al-Mughrabi [3] was my prison mate and my PLO recruiter: he sent me to bomb the Bank Leumi branch in Bethlehem. After his release from the Masqubiyeh, he was considered enough of a danger that Israel assassinated him on October 1, 1985: Israeli F-15B Eagle war planes, in Operation Wooden Leg, hit Arafat’s Tunisia headquarters in retaliation for the PLO’s murder of Israelis in Larnaca, Cyprus one week earlier. (The assassination mission that killed Al-Mughrabi can be pulled up on video [4] via Al-Jazeera.) Arab sources like Middle East Report lamented his death:
“In pain and sorrow we learn that our friend Mahmud Al-Mughrabi was killed during the October bombing raid in Tunisia. Mahmud was born in Jerusalem in 1960. By the age of 16 he was under detention 12 times and he was one of the first to speak in public about the methods of interrogation of Palestinian detainees used by the General Security Services in Israel. He then gave his permission to being publicly identified as an informant for the Sunday Times expose of Israeli torture in June 1977. In 1984, he managed to escape to Jordan after years of increasingly marginal existence under steadily deteriorating conditions of military occupation.”
Famed Egyptian terror-apologist Edward Said spoke of Al-Mughrabi:
One of the victims of the Tunis bombing was Mahmoud Al-Mughrabi, born in Jerusalem in 1960, under detention twelve times by the age of 16, one of the informants of The Sunday Times to expose of torture in Israel (19 June, 1977) who “managed to escape to Jordan after years of increasingly marginal existence under steadily deteriorating existence of the Israeli occupation”, according to a memorial notice by Israeli Jewish friends that was repeatedly denied publication in Arab newspapers in East Jerusalem by Israeli military censorship.
Al-Jazeera and Said are not “Zionist” sources, but Arab.
Al-Mughrabi boasted of carrying out 15 bombing operations against Israeli civilians and infrastructure. His claims of torture within the prison are pure deception. He told his communist activist lawyer, Leah Tsemel — who represented him from 1976-1978 — that he had suffered severe electrocution, yet every time he returned from interrogations he was without a scratch. In fact, he disclosed that he was lying to Leah Tsemel, using her as a pawn to win his release.
I have researched old records of a litany of claims against Masqubiyeh: alleged tortures, humiliations, spitting incidents, sexual harassment, overcrowding, and even claims of being forced to watch rapes. All are unfounded upon examination. Unlike what Mosab described, the Masqubiyeh was humane, perhaps even more so than American prisons. Each inmate had his own bed and an in-the-cell shower. We ate three full meals a day, which included a beverage choice of tea or sweet punch. We were fine, and Al-Mughrabi always seemed fine after he returned from questioning.
I met Al-Mughrabi in the Masqubiyeh prison — his detention there is documented by the General Assembly of the United Nations records [5].2 The UN report [6] reads:
Lea Tsemel’s clients whom Hedva Sarid says she saw being kicked, was a youth-called Mahmud el-Mughrabi. At l6, he had already been picked up a dozen times, and he was clearly regarded as a trouble-maker. Mughrabi gave us a detailed account of how he was beaten at the session Hedva Sarid interrupted. His story is in part corroborated by another prisoner though Mughrabi’s additional allegation of electric shock remains unconfirmed. Mughrabi was one of 24 Palestinians we interviewed who had been interrogated in the Russian Compound — “Moscobiya” the Arabs call it. … Thus the faces constantly re-appear among the countless detainees whose names can (or cannot) be seen on graffiti on the filthy walls of the Russian Compound (Moskubiye) prison cells. 3
The several riots in both Jerusalem, Bethlehem, and Beit Sahour in which I participated in are documented events:
The riots in Bethlehem, Beit-Sahur, Hebron, Jericho and Halhul were reported in Ha’aretz on 18 March 1976. 4
I first spotted Mahmud Al-Mughrabi during a demonstration on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. He was firing a low-caliber pistol when an Israeli post guard fired back, hitting Mahmoud Al-Jneidi instead. I was right behind Jnedi, who was killed by the shot.
Later on, I was imprisoned with Mahmoud Al-Mughrabi at the Masqubiyeh in 1977. I recognized him from that event on the Temple Mount.
We became friends. He recruited me into the PLO to carry out a bombing operation after my release. He gave me his address: Judo Star Martial Arts Institute on Bab Al-Wad Street in Jerusalem’s Old City. We met several times to plan an operation: we concluded that I could use my U.S. passport one day to hijack an airliner, but to start we would target all branches of Bank Leumi — mine was the branch of Bank Leumi in Bethlehem’s Manger Square.
The Jerusalem Post article by Jorg Loyken stated that “[Loyken] called Bank Leumi and there was no record of any bombing.” This meaningless statement provided no reference of what records were checked, and Loyken apparently did not check other sources or witness statements that were provided to him. (Loyken’s article has since been referenced by other news sources to attack the credibility and legitimacy of my story.)
After the publication of the Loyken article, witnesses came forth to rebut it and to confirm my account.
I spoke to Moshe Ozery, a retired military officer who served in the Israeli Defense Forces in the Bethlehem area under Moshe Ya’alon prior to Ya’alon becoming IDF chief of staff. Ozery was stationed in Beit Sahour during 1976-1977. He gave details regarding the bombing and demonstrations (and additionally gave a corroborating description of the injured soldier that I attempted to lynch during the Land Day demonstrations of March 1976).
MY TERROR BACKGROUND
The bombing of the Bank Leumi in Bethlehem’s Manger Square — as described in my books — was documented by the United Nations [7]. Between December 24 and 27, there were two explosions in Manger Square: “Bethlehem (in Manger Square near the Church of the Nativity)” and “Explosive charge went off outside the local Courthouse 27 December 1977 JP. 2 Jan. 1978 Yediot Aharonot, 2 January 1978.” The Sharia Court in Bethlehem Square is part of the mosque in front of Bank Leumi.
James Al-Yateem — another witness from my village and a former classmate of mine — stated: “Not only was there an explosion on top of Bank Leumi in Bethlehem, but many of us knew that Walid did the bombing.” Al-Yateem also recounts several incidents of violence that I was involved in (including the attempted Land Day lynching).
Muhammad Meri Al-Atrash Shoebat, my relative, was also arrested at the Bethlehem Police Station after the explosion and released three days later.
I have other family connections [8] My cousin Jawad Younis, another terrorist who was exiled to Jordan, later became a prominent attorney and defended Abu Zubayda, Osama bin Laden’s henchman. My cousin Arin Shoebat was the mastermind of Operation Rishon Litzion, and Raed Awadallah Khalil Shoebat was behind an attempt to bomb Ben Yehuda street.
But hold on. I am not done. This is just a short version. Below is much more detail. Good luck refuting.

FIRST—HOW CNN MANUFACTURED THE “GAP” THEORY AND USED EXAGGERATIONS
___________________________________________________________________________
FALSITY: (on camera): Yes. I mean, you obviously can see why people are critical of — of your claims. There’s a whole lot of gaps in your story.
(CROSSTALK) SHOEBAT: There’s no gaps at all.
GRIFFIN: No, we don’t have a bank bombing.
(voice-over): And we don’t have a terrorist, because it turns out Walid Shoebat, even on his own admission, was never charged.
SHOEBAT: I was in prison for a few weeks.
GRIFFIN: Was there a charge?
SHOEBAT: No. I was a U.S. citizen, remember? I was born by an American mother. The other conspirators in the act ended up in jail. I ended up being released.
EXPLANATION: CNN concocted a different sequence of events and by intentionally twisting the story by editing the recording to take out the facts of being imprisoned for demonstrations to claim that Mr. Shoebat stated that he was imprisoned for a “bombing operation”.
Here’s why, making Shoebat’s claim as “being imprisoned for a bombing” then released for simply being an “American citizen” would be an absurd claim by Walid. It is impossible to believe that someone is let go for a bombing so easily. CNN twisted a story by manufacturing false evidence and created the “gaps” they blamed on Walid with intent to lie to the public totally disregarding the truth.
By using an argument of not being able to find a record, or their inability to find news archives that they could now stretch the claim further to use the term “Fraud” which is the strongest possible language that CNN used, it’s direct slander and defamation, and without insinuating it. But the emails sent to them to examine the facts proves that they knew these things not to be true.
EVIDENCE OF KNOWLEDGE OF FALSITY:
CNN KNEW that Mr. Shoebat was not in jail for a bombing operation but for planning civil unrest. The evidence was in Griffin’s own article: “Israeli police had no record of the bombing, and the prison where Shoebat says he was held “for a few weeks” for inciting anti-Israel demonstrations says it has no record of him being incarcerated there either”. (CNN July 13th, 2011).
CNN KNEW that the prison was for “demonstrations” not a “bombing” and that it is reasonable to be released for demonstrations having been an American citizen which is especially confirmed as CNN’s newspaper article continued in the very same lines “…Shoebat says he was never charged because he was a U.S. citizen”.
FALSITY is proven since the article was reasonable in this line, yet CNN Griffin concluded on T.V right after “And we don’t have a terrorist, because it turns out Walid Shoebat, even on his own admission, was never charged. SHOEBAT: I was in prison for a few weeks. GRIFFIN: Was there a charge? SHOEBAT: No. I was a U.S. citizen, remember? I was born by an American mother”.
CNN KNEW that they falsified the facts since the discrepancy was even sent to Robinson and Cooper after they aired on the 14th, and CNN disregarded that they intentionally twisted the sequence of Walid’s bio and aired again the same content on the 27th of July, two weeks later, even when they were threatened with a lawsuit:
“In addition, CNN were not the only ones investigating Mr. Shoebat’s prison story. Journalist Eileen Fleming who attempted to debunk Mr. Shoebat’s account on an OpedNews.com story had interviewed Shoebat’s family who confirmed that Mr. Shoebat was indeed in prison: “But, when he was in jail he met someone who invited him to join a group against Israel”.
AND “He was recruited into the PLO by prison cellmate Mahmoud Al-Mughrabi – which led to the former’s involvement in a bomb plot that targeted several Bank Leumi branches. Several bombings of Bank Leumi are well documented in the United Nations Reports.”.
The use “when he was in jail” shows he was recruited for the bombing in jail, prior to the bombing. Then he was “led” to do the bombing when he was released.
CNN KNEW of Eileen Fleming’s research, which was sent to them. Fleming was even an ardent critic of Walid and unlike Griffin, traveled to Bethlehem, then spoke to Walid’s family to poke holes in Walid’s story interviewing other closest relatives including Jawad Younis whom CNN did not call. Had CNN really put such effort as they claimed, or didn’t twist Walid’s story why would they confuse the sequence of events? According to Fleming’s research provided to CNN, Walid’s FIRST cousins testified that Walid was: 1—“arrested for demonstrations” and 2—“was held in prison” where 3—“he met someone who invited him to join a group against Israel” to 4—“later plant a package at bank Leumi”. All this proves that Walid was imprisoned prior to his bombing operation and not for it as CNN stated. All this confirms Walid’s account that he was imprisoned and recruited in prison, which was prior to his bombing activity.
CNN KNEW from Fleming’s research confirmation to Walid’s identity, origin, trouble with violence, connection to a terrorist and even imprisonment verification. This in fact was sent to them, Keith wrote to Johnston: “Keep in mind, that you can research interviews by another research done by a blogger Eileen Flemming in which she stated that my family confirmed I was in prison in 1976, when Mr Shoebat first went public with his story the very same people denied Walid even existed. Mr. Shoebat’s story remains consistent for 8 years since he went public and well documented in his book “Why I Left Jihad.”” (See letter to Kathleen Johnston, May 27th, 2011) Walid’s use of his citizenship was simply used to help him for his incarceration for participating in posting flags to spark a demonstration in his village as verified by Jawad Younis. His mother went to the U.S. Council General in Jerusalem and they sent their representative to the prison to interview Walid.
CONCLUSION: Griffin intentionally altered the story with malice intended. A 1991 case made it somewhat easier for public figures to sue authors and publishers for libel. Masson v. New Yorker Magazine, 501 U.S. 496, 111 S. Ct. 2419, 115 L. Ed. 2d 447 (1991), held that a plaintiff alleging libel satisfies the actual-malice standard if it can be proved that the author deliberately altered the plaintiff’s words and that the alteration resulted in a material change in the meaning conveyed by the plaintiff in the original statement.
How could CNN go through “great lengths” “trying to verify Shoebat’s story” yet only “finding the general location with a branch of bank once stood”? The bank was on the end of the series of shops south of the square adjacent to the mosque. It was the last shop. How could I identify the spot, especially after the bank being cancelled? Such a major workforce of CNN was put to task would have at least included a single statement or exchanges or even interviews with police, prison or government officials or agency. The reason they never did is because they KNEW the story is true. CNN knowingly exaggerated to having done a thorough investigation by stating that “the Jerusalem bureau went to great lengths trying to verify Shoebat’s story” claiming that calling a bank was sufficient to: 1—qualify as going through “great length” 2—conclude a fraudulent account, “The Tel Aviv headquarters of Bank Leumi had no record of a firebombing at its now-demolished Bethlehem branch”.
Neither was there “repeated requests”. CNN had several email exchanges with FFMU. There was never “repeated requests”, in fact it was CNN that finally ended the email exchanges and dialogue.
CNN insinuates that FFMU were careless and disregarded any probe into Mr. Shoebat, that Mr. Shoebat “hated tough questions” and had something to hide. FFMU in fact offered CNN to disclose documents of evidence.
______________________________________________________________________
FALSITY: GRIFFIN (voice-over): An ex-terrorist, it’s Walid Shoebat’s claim to fame. A terrorist, a PLO member, who bombed a branch of an Israeli bank in Bethlehem square, throwing a fire bomb on the bank’s roof. The problem with the story, with a lot of Shoebat’s stories, is CNN could find any evidence for them. And despite CNN’s many request, neither Shoebat nor his business partner had provided us with any”.
AND:
“the police in South Dakota never knew he was fraud. Apparently, the churches that ask him to come and speak, the universities that come and speak, nobody has gone back and check his record, to see if any of it is real. And we have found out that none of it is”. (CNN, July 27th, 2011)
AND the caption “Terror Training Fraud”. (Video,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXvgfX2Wuhg)
AND:
“But CNN reporters in the United States, Israel and the Palestinian territories found no evidence that would support that biography” (see Ex-Terrorist Rakes Homeland Security Bucks, by Drew Griffin and Kathleen Johnston, July 13th, 2011) AND : also “Jerusalem bureau went to great lengths trying to verify Shoebat’s story, finding the general location with a branch of bank once stood” “Neither Shoebat nor his business partner provided any proof of Shoebat’s involvement in terrorism, despite repeated requests”.
AND
“The problem of the story, with a lot of Shoebat’s stories, is there is no evidence for them. Neither Shoebat nor his business partner provided any proof of Shoebat’s involvement in terrorism, despite repeated requests”.
INTRODUCTION: Now, CNN’s claim goes beyond the “bombing” verification into all his other stories and everything stated in his bio as a fabrication; “the problem with the story [bombing]” then to link CNN’s claim with “a lot of Shoebat’s stories” insinuates that the “a lot” is also unverified. CNN knew that “a lot of Shoebat’s stories” was sent to them and are verified beyond a shadow of doubt. Countless links and references were provided to them and with and clear evidence; the Arin Shoebat case, the Raed Shoebat case and the Jawad Younis case. Lately Ziad Shoebat, Imam of Tareq Bin Ziad Mosque was arrested by the Palestinian Authority for his membership in Hamas terrorist organization.
EVIDENCE OF KNOWLEDGE OF FALSITY:
CNN KNEW that evidence do exist “He says he was a Palestinian terrorist, jailed by the Israelis. But it’s a life story based on very little evidence”. “Little evidence” and “no [zero] evidence” are contradictory. What is this “little evidence” CNN found?
CNN was even offered several documents including credible witnesses to validate Mr. Shoebat’s account: “We will be willing to provide copies of documents that will answer your questions and witnesses on the condition that you guarantee they are protected and no names or photos or the contents of such documents will be made public. We will have you review these in person”. (see Exhibit A, final email, June 29th, 2011) CNN never even wrote back.
CNN KNEW of Mahmud Al-Mughrabi, his prison time and trouble with the law documented in the U.N reports sent to them. He was no fiction. He was finally dug out of The Middle East Report, with the late Edward Said and Christopher Hitchens who wrote about him. These including the United Nations stating he was a “civilian spy” who reported for the British Sunday Times.
While this presents a seeming contradiction since Walid painted Al-Mughrabi as a “terrorist”, until further checking yielded evidence not mentioned in Walid’s books which Walid didn’t even know at the time he wrote his books, that Al-Mughrabi was finally killed alongside 46 other terrorists during Israeli Operation Wooden Leg while serving as a “terrorist” on Arafat’s beachfront headquarters in Tunisia in 1985. The historic event was even aired on Al-Jazeera T.V 2 and posted by Al-Mughrabi’s own family website. 3 If bias media never admitted that Al-Mughrabi was a terrorist as it served an agenda, so the same media like CNN will deny Walid’s terrorism to serve that very same agenda. To date, there is nothing in the media which states Al-Mughrabi as terrorist. What was he doing in Arafat’s compound serving in Force 17? Even Walid tying Al-Mughrabi to the Judo Star Martial Arts, on Bab-El-Wad Street, old city of Jerusalem is verified. 4 Besides Al-Mughrabi, Walid was an inmate with Omar Abdel Karim. In Walid’s book Why I Left Jihad page 28, Walid writes about Omar Abdel Karim, “son in law of Muezzin (caller to prayer) Ramadan” who was beaten in prison by interrogators. Is confirmed by United Nations Report:
http://unispal.un.org/UNISPAL.NSF/0/FE3D603D74F5729B85256FE0006CC519
CNN KNEW that the prison time Walid was incarcerated there was the same time frame as Al-Mughrabi.
CNN KNEW that Walid was involved with Al-Mughrabi from Fleming’s research. Volumes were provided to CNN with references.
CNN KNEW that his bombing operation can be verified through eyewitnesses; one Ziad Al-Yateem from Walid’s village and another Moshe Ozeri who was an Israeli soldier serving under Moshe Ya’alon. These verify the explosion at Bank Leumi in Bethlehem. (See email, 27th, F)
CNN KNEW from the email sent to them on May 27th that the bombings of Bank Leumi branches which he suggested to do to Al-Mughrabi can easily be verified through United Nations reports 6 Walid advised Al-Mughrabi to bomb “several banks”: “He was recruited into the PLO by prison cellmate Mahmoud Al-Mughrabi – which led to the former’s involvement in a bomb plot that targeted Bank Leumi branches (which Hedges and Luyken said was manufactured)” (May 27th letter to Johnston, A)
CNN KNEW that Walid’s billing as “x-terrorist” as not just the bombing operation. The story of injuring the Lieutenant Governor of Bethlehem can be verified (see article from March 18th, 1976 by Ha’Aretz vs page 11 in Why We Want to Kill You, and page 17 from Why I Left Jihad) Although the article states the injured soldier was in Bethlehem, it was in Beit Sahour, an adjacent village which according to Bethlehem’s Municipality is part of Bethlehem).
CNN KNEW from the email sent to them: “Walid’s violent acts included street violence and hand-to-hand confrontations with Israeli forces. On one occasion Walid nearly lynched an Israeli soldier, which also can be confirmed by accessing Israeli news archives on March 18th as well as March 30th 1976. The news broadcaster was Karam Zarour who broadcast the news item on 8 PM news on the Arabic station on Israeli TV. You could access the archives and collaborate the story”. (Email to Johnston May 27th, 4c) CNN claimed that they could not find the archives, but were also offered an article “The attempted killing of an Israeli high official” (Ha’aretz, March 18th, 1976) which would have solved their dilemma. The story was also on page 11 in Why We Want to Kill You, and page 17 from Why I Left Jihad) Although the article states the injured soldier was in Bethlehem, it was in Beit Sahour, an adjacent village which according to Bethlehem’s Municipality is part of Bethlehem.
CNN KNEW of Walid’s family terror links. Several of Shoebat’s family denying having any terror links which is contradicted by official sources 5
Areen Shoebat: a female cousin was the mastermind of a suicide operation in Rishon LeZion Arin Shoebat was the renowned mastermind of the dual Operation Reshon Letzion in which Issa Bdeir detonated a bomb, killing him along with innocent Jewish civilians. Arin survived, hesitating to kill children, a similar account to that of Walid’s, who published his story years prior to Arin’s activity.
Raed Khalil Awadallah Shoebat: is on the list of official martyrs. Anyone can use google translate in Arabic can confirm both links in which these names match 100%. Raed Shoebat was killed on January 2nd 1995, after attempting an operation on Ben Yehuda Street. (See page 22, Why I Left Jihad and ref #5 below)
KAMAL YOUNIS: The attacks by Walid’s own family in the U.S. proves much of his background since their connections shows ties to terrorism. Take Kamal Younis, one of Walid’s cousins publically denied the claim by Walid that his brother Jawad, a prominent attorney in Jordan had ties to terrorists 7 to only be contradicted when his allegiance and support to Hezbollah’s Nasrallah is a public record. 8 Kamal Younis’ testimony who is the brother of the prominent attorney Jawad Younis who defended Abu Zubaydah, a Palestinian living in Pakistan who is believed to be a key aide to Mr Bin Laden. Jawad was convicted by Israel in the good old days for his involvement and support for terrorism with the P.L.O. Mr. Jawad Younis is known to have only one hand. His other hand was made out of plastic, which Kamal confirmed later on is correct. His arm was blown off in his youth while messing with explosives. Jawad Younis the brother of Kamal Younis later becomes a prominent figure in exile in Jordan, yet the leopard doesn’t change it’s spots, Jawad as an attorney that defends Al-Qaeda operatives and even send a letter alongside of other delegates to congratulate Nasrallah the terror king pin of Hizbullah for his attacks on Israel. Walid reported both him and his partner to NCIC since these were involved in translating sensitive work for the F.B.I regarding the case of Sami Al-Aryan, the convicted terror financier. Younis partner was working according to him on sensitive military products.
Ziad Shoebat: Imam of Tareq Bin Ziad Mosque was arrested by the Palestinian Authority for his membership in Hamas terrorist organization.
http://www.palestinesons.com/ar/pid7664.html
CNN KNEW that the description of the demonstrations and violence can be proven through United Nations reports. 9
CNN KNEW of Walid’s family’s link to Sir Winston Churchill can be verified by photocopy articles with Winston Churchill’s visit to his old friend Fred Georgeson Walid’s American great grand father and mayor of Eureka California. (see articles, plus passports of his grand father) Walid’s Arabic grandfather was the Mukhtar of the Muslims in Beit Sahour (see Eilen Fleming’s report, testimony of Kamal Younis).
CNN KNEW his grand father’s story selling land to the Jewish National Fund. Abdul Qader Al-Husseni was appointed by Haj Amin (Adolf Hitler’s puppet) to execute so many chieftans (Mukhtars) in the whole region. Anyone that was considered peaceful or had connection with the Jews were to be executed. Of course, the Hussenis sold land to Jews yet they were immune. My grand father was one of these who escaped the massacre due to his connection with the family and with his father in law, my great grand father. This story was known in the family and well documented on page 44 in Walid’s book Why I Left Jihad. Many were not so lucky. This massacre between 1936 and 1938 carried out by Husseni’s men is so well known and well documented which included Sheikh Daoud Ansari (Imam of Al Aqsa Mosque), Sheikh Ali Nur el Khattib (Al Aqsa Mosque), Sheikh Nusbi Abdal Rahim (Council of Muslim Religious Court), Sheikh Abdul el Badoui (Acre, Palestine), Sheikh El Namouri (Hebron), and Nasr El Din Nassr (Mayor of Hebron). Between Feb. 1937 and Nov. 1938, eleven Mukhtars (community leaders) and their entire families were slain by Amin al Husseni’s men. (See Israel Forum Bulletin v3.0.3, see also Fasl Al-Maqal owned by Azmi Bishara, Nazareth, see page 163, Why I Left Jihad).
The murder of Basem Hanouneh, Muneer Abu Sayb’a our landlord’s son and Mrs. Christa mentioned on page 12 in Why We Want to Kill You are verifiable events. Even the photo of our house where we used to live showing on CNN has his father’s name “Muhammad Amin Abu Sayb’a” etched on the house. The roof where I shot our first makshift gun that his he house of Farah Ijha which was a flashing bullet.
The spousal abuse of his first wife Katharine Agondo mentioned on page 13, and her conversion to Islam on page 14 their working place can all be verified. My Syrian Imam Abdul Qader Al-Najjar, prior to my conversion to Christianity. I would chat with Najjar about how the Saudis purchased an entire block in Garden Grove California where I resided in 1980. In English he would tell my Jewish girlfriend the virtues of Islam; this ultimately led her to convert to Islam. However, in Arabic, he preached Friday sermon in which he declared that Allah cursed the US for the mishaps that happened in Operation Eagle Claw, the botched rescue attempt of American hostages in Iran. I.D from Walid’s college proves Walid was in Chicago as he stated on page 14th in Why We Want to Kill You. His life in Chicago and his girlfriend Mary Edwards mentioned in it, today known as Mary Edwards Wertsch who was on the team to defend terrorist escapee Ziad Abu Eain who was convicted and extradited to Israel later on. Nothing connects Mary Edwards to this in the media today, but digging into it will prove our case to be true. Edwards is a prominent author and activist who today covers up her past having aided Abu Eain who later became Arafat’s member of the Supreme Committee of the PLO. Edwards worked with James Zughbi the director of the Arab-American Institute who was on that committee. She lived by Wriggly Fields in Chicago and was working on a book for the Nation of Islam which she never completed. She is noted today for writing Military Brats which was forwarded by General Shwarzkoph. (see Why We Want to Kill You, pages 14-15, see also photo of I.D from the Loop College)
Jamal Said, Walid’s recruiter in Chicago can also be confirmed: http://www.conservapedia.com/Jamal_Said Walid’s cousin Nidal Shoebat, Shoebat was injured during the operation to liquidate Hussein Abiyat mentioned in Why We Want to Kill You, page 4, can be verified through several news sources. Nidal was an accomplice in the bombing at Bank Leumi. Walid has a letter from Counter Terrorism Task Force headed by Mr. Donald Crum, a branch of the F.B.I giving him a letter of clearance as an informant. He has contributed key information to the F.B.I in Oakland California through Victor Nava, an F.B.I agent. He has also worked with the terrorism Task Force in Chile. The violence Walid witnessed against Jewish civilians which happened on his way to visit the Mufti’s office in Hebron on the bus stop that picked up the Jewish community in Qiryat Arba mentioned on page 21 in Why I Left Jihad and page 7 in Why We Want to Kill You can be verified from the return date stamped on my passport #032260887 shows I have entered Israel on June 6th, 1991-July 14th 1991. Leaving to America in 1978 can be verified from passport #Z2602735
CONCLUSION: Walid’s “claim to fame” is confirmed, which is a terrorist attack by Walid and his friends attempting to kill the Lieutenant Governor of Bethlehem during an attempted arrest by the governor of a Palestinian youngster in the Municipality of Beit Sahour-Bethlehem. CNN even disregarded that “confession” in itself is a record of proof. Walid went from attempting to kill Lieutenant governor to being recognized by governors in the U.S.
SECOND HOW CNN MANUFACTURED A “NO” PRISON RECORD
___________________________________________________________________________
FALSITY: Griffin stated: “the Israeli detention center could find no record of detaining anyone with the name Walid Shoebat.”
AND
“There’s no record of your arrest?” Shoebat: “How about you and me go and extract the records, the records are there. Would you be willing to do so?”
Griffin: “Ok” [cut to voice over with Griffin]: “We did, and the Israeli detention center could find no record of detaining anyone with the name Walid Shoebat.”
EVIDENCE OF KNOWLEDGE OF FALSITY: CNN disclosed that they KNEW that the name “Shoebat” was likely not the name that Walid went by: “We have seen apparently contradictory accounts where he has said that Shoebat is his real name and others where he has said he has altered his name to protect family members. (See email from Johnston, May 25th, 2011)”
CNN also KNEW that whatever they aired on July 13th and 14th regarding the name on Walid’s passport and record of arrest was not “Shoebat” since Anderson Copper and Christa Robinson received an email sent on 3:00 P.M on the 14th: “Even if Mr. Griffin did check prison records, he was searching the wrong name. Had CNN examined our records that were offered to them, it will prove beyond doubt that Mr. Griffin made an error. When Mr. Shoebat was arrested he turned in his U.S. passport and not his birth certificate or I.D. card. His U.S. passport had a different last name”. (see email to Anderson Cooper and Christa Robinson, July 14th, 2011)
Yet, CNN ignored the email and knowingly continued the smear on the 27th two weeks later having ample time to reply and rectify. Without a shadow of doubt and at this point, CNN KNEW that much of what they stated was false and have even ignored our warning of an impending lawsuit, which is policy to be sent to their attorneys as Mr. Whittaker, stated in past exchanges. The email stated: “You have been used to smear a good man, here is the evidence. We had been in communication and tried to work with CNN, we have all the email correspondence, but CAIR has infiltrated CNN and Drew Griffin has been corrupted by them. We will go with full extent of law for damages especially for Keith Davies who is not a public figure”. (see same email to Anderson Cooper and Christa Robinson, July 14th, 2011)
The proof that Griffin knew of the email was from his statement on air: “As for Shoebat, he did get testy. Later sessions after that interview, he began attacking the media, specifically CNN, for doubting his story. He has since accused us and you, Anderson, of being used by the Council on American-Islamic Relations, even suggesting that group was the primary source for our report, which, of course, is not true”. This knowledge came from that email sent on the 14th which shows they were tracking all of our correspondence closely to only look for holes, gaps and criticism and not fact, totally disregarding truth.
CNN also KNEW that Walid was in prison through the research provided to them made by Shoebat regarding the self-described Journalist Eileen Flemin. Keith wrote to Johnston: “Keep in mind, that you can research interviews by another research done by a blogger Eileen Flemming in which she stated that my family confirmed I was in prison in 1976, when Mr Shoebat first went public with his story the very same people denied Walid even existed. Mr. Shoebat’s story remains consistent for 8 years since he went public and well documented in his book “Why I Left Jihad.”” (See letter to Kathleen Johnston, May 27th, 2011). Fleming attempted to debunk Mr. Shoebat’s account on an OpedNews.com story and had interviewed Shoebat’s family who confirmed that Mr. Shoebat was indeed in prison: “But, when he was in jail he met someone who invited him to join a group against Israel”. CNN also KNEW that this claim has been debunked several times over in the past and its not the first time this happened and were warned about in the email sent to them on May 27th. It is obvious that CNN researched Walid’s story since Mrs. Johnston stated that “‘Shoebat’ at times is said to be an assumed name, and other times it’s not”.
- Fact is “Shoebat” has another name and are both correct names depending on which identification document is used. This is the reason why Shoebat offered to check the prison records with CNN in person which CNN agreed to do but never fulfilled.
CNN KNEW that they could have obtained the name discrepancy issue since they were offered to the documents that would have clarified the issue.
CNN also KNEW that they couldn’t access “Police Records” since CNN never provided any evidence for their claimed probe into Shoebat’s records. CNN KNEW that such records have been transferred to Israel after the transfer to the P.A. and was told so by Keith and also KNEW that it’s illegal to access records of prisoners in Israel which will prove they lied “[we] checked Walid’s prison records”. Israeli attorney Yakov Greiff adds damning evidence, had CNN really questioned prison officials, they would instantly recognized that they would break Israeli law. Greiff stated: “reporters claim to have checked Walid’s criminal and arrest record is impossible (or at least illegal) for anyone in the press to have done this” the application to check records is strict (see form provided by attorney Thomas Greif).
Griffin also insinuated that he went physically to Israel with Walid “we did” when Walid was never included on this trip and neither did Griffin go there. The Shoebat Foundation was told that CNN wanted to do a joint effort to do some fact checking in Israel. This was expressed to CNN prior to airing the defamatory piece by Mr. Davies which CNN never denied: “we [Shoebat Fdn] felt that you [CNN] were serious in doing a joint effort in investigating the story and provided you with our initial detailed report”. CNN intentionally kept Mr. Shoebat out of their investigation since he began to point to their errors that they claimed came from “trusted” and “verifiable” sources during the conversation with Griffin in which Griffin stated that Walid was paid $13,000. (see email to Mr. Lister, June 28, 2011) In several emails this issue was brought up and not once did any of the CNN correspondents denied it.
THIRD—HOW CNN MANUFACTURED A “NO” BOMBING OPERATION BY ALTERING EVIDENCE
___________________________________________________________________________
FALSITY: “The Tel Aviv headquarters of Bank Leumi had no record of a firebombing at its now-demolished Bethlehem branch”.
AND
“Israeli police had no record of the bombing”.
EXPLANATION: CNN requested evidence for bombing Bank Leumi which was difficult to access records to prove. Johnston requested: “*the U.N. report that details the bombing incident of the bank that Mr.Shoebat said he was involved in” (Johnston’s email, May 25th).
Yet Walid’s involvement with bombings went beyond a single bank. Walid advised Al-Mughrabi to bomb “several banks” which CNN KNEW: “He was recruited into the PLO by prison cellmate Mahmoud Al-Mughrabi – which led to the former’s involvement in a bomb plot that targeted Bank Leumi branches (which Hedges and Luyken said was manufactured)” (May 27th letter to Johnston, A)
Walid initiated a new idea, to bomb Leumi branches throughout the West Bank, which continued for several months later.
Walid thought that CNN would not air, then on July 13th when CNN aired, Walid sent the email of July 14th, in which sent them a link of the other bombings with the link to the United Nations report:
“Mr. Shoebat had a real time bomb assembled by the notorious terrorist Mahmoud Al-Mughrabi. The most damaging to Mr. Griffin’s story is that there were bombing of the Bank Leumi in Bethlehem’s Manger Square — as described in Mr. Shoebat’s books — which was documented by the United Nations.
Between December 24 and 27, there were two explosions in that area: “Bethlehem (in Manger Square near the Church of the Nativity)” and “Explosive charge went off outside the local Courthouse 27 December 1977 JP. 2 Jan. 1978 Yediot Aharonot, 2 January 1978.”” (Email to Robinson and Cooper, July 14th, 2011)
EVIDENCE OF KNOWLEDGE OF FALSITY: CNN KNEW that calling Bank Leumi will not yield fact since the Bank is not a valid source to verify a terrorist incident and neither does finding records constitute “fraud” since absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.
Neither did CNN provide any evidence that they even checked the Israeli police. CNN also KNEW that Walid never claimed to have thrown a “Molotov Cocktail” at branch Leumi bank. CNN KNEW that Walid claimed to have placed an “exploding” bomb and not a “firebomb”. In the email sent to them it stated: “Mr. Al Yateem can also confirm the Bank Leumi in Bethlehem’s Manger Square bomb explosion” (email to Johnston May 27th, 2011). Also, “Mr. Shoebat had a real time bomb assembled by the notorious terrorist Mahmoud Al-Mughrabi” (July 14th email to Robinson and Cooper), also, “He was recruited into the PLO by prison cellmate Mahmoud Al-Mughrabi – which led to the former’s involvement in a bomb plot that targeted Bank Leumi branches (which Hedges and Luyken said was manufactured)” (Ibid, A)
Plus there are hundreds of testimonies made by Walid available everywhere. Not once did Walid mention a “firebomb” of the bank.
Neither was the building “demolished”. Tim Lister who was appointed to do Mr. Griffin’s grunt work was even searching the wrong date “As regards the incident in Bethlehem in 1978” (See Exhibit A, email from Tim Lister, June 28, 2011) which shows that CNN’s entire investigation was concerning a time in which Walid never included in his bio. This is what CNN calls “great length” research.
- In summery, CNN is claiming that they called Bank Leumi in Tel Aviv and the Israeli police using the wrong information they had concocted, what would the question to their source be; “has there been a Molotov Cocktail thrown at the demolished bank Leumi in Bethlehem during 1978?”
Had the Bank or the Israeli police responded with an answer CNN would have been informed that the building still stands and CNN would have corrected their statement, or else the bank would be researching the wrong year. This proves that CNN never called the bank. And since CNN’s premise of their investigation was calling the bank and the police in Israel regarding a Molotov Cocktail, everything they did and their whole investigation would have been compromised. In fact, its obvious that Griffin read Why I Left Jihad, “Terrorism is like a drug addiction, first you throw a Molotov cocktail, then you toss a bomb on the roof of a bank…” and is why he assumed that Walid tossed a Molotov Cocktail.
CNN concocted this claim of the firebomb knowing that no one can verify to make a deceptive argument that CNN did due-diligence portraying Shoebat as a liar and a fraud.
___________________________________________________________________________
FALSITY: “He said his own family has vouched for his prison time. But relatives CNN spoke to described him as a “regular kid” who left home at 18, eventually becoming a computer programmer in the United States”.
By this insinuating that Walid lied since his “4th cousin” discounts his account.
EVIDENCE OF KNOWLEDGE OF FALSITY: CNN was sent an email: “Keep in mind, that you can research interviews by another research done by a blogger Eileen Flemming in which she stated that my family confirmed I was in prison in 1976” (See Exhibit A, email to Johnston, May 27th, 5.A)
It was Eileen Fleming’s report which stated: “his own family has vouched for his prison time” and not Walid. By that CNN linked what seems Walid’s statement with his 4th cousin who supposedly denied the prison story as to show that Walid was lying, that his family rejected his claim.
When CNN stated “He said his own family has vouched” by that CNN must have learned this from Walid. Indeed, they did, which also proves that CNN knew of Fleming’s report.
CNN were provided two reporters Eileen Fleming and another who we did not disclose, Todd Bowman, they asked about Todd but not Eileen since they examined her record already. One of them (Todd Bowman) even obtained a voice recording with Moshe Ozeri whose name was made public and was even told to CNN: “There is a journalist [Todd Bowman] currently working to evaluate Mr. shoebat’s story. He has interviewed two eyewitnesses. One is Mr. Al-Yateem, a native of Bethlehem, also former IDF officer under Moshe Ya’alon (prior to becoming chief of staff). Both corroborated Mr. Shoebat’s account regarding the near lynching of an Israeli officer. Mr. Al Yateem can also confirm the Bank Leumi in Bethlehem’s Manger Square bomb explosion. Please let us know if you would like to contact this journalist”. (Email, May 27th)
One of the witnesses provided was even linked to the event since he was arrested at the scene of the crime, “Muhammad Mari Al-Atrash”, yet “Daood Shoebat” was sought and the other was never sought searched his prison records or was even questioned, even though they were provided to CNN prior to airing: “May we direct you to the proper facility to inquire on such records, which you can obtain from records that were at the Bethlehem Police station including names of arrested individuals, they questioned one of which was Muhammad Mari Al-Atrash Shoebat arrested on the spot after the explosion”. (see email May 27th, 2011, with Johnston) CNN knowingly avoided to interview Eileen Fleming since her account contradicts CNN’s intent to smear.
It is common to arrest groups of people after every bombing activity as shown in United Nations reports, see “M. 14 Sept. 1978 ALQ.15 Sept. 1978 H. 17 Sept. 1978” in the United Nations report. No police records were accessed by CNN to see why Mari was arrested during 1976.
CNN’s Jerusalem Bureau KNEW that Daood Hassaan Shoebat is a relative of famed terrorist Arin Shoebat and Raed Khalil Awadallah Shoebat and Ziad Shoebat (Hamas) whom Daood is their uncle are terrorists and is sympathetic to terrorism which was disclosed to CNN on July 14th to Cooper and Robinson.
Leaving all that out CNN insinuated that Walid was lying when he says that his family vouched to the truth of the matter bringing in a 4th cousin as evidence when first cousins confirmed it.
___________________________________________________________________________
FALSITY: (Daood Shoebat): “There were only two banks in Bethlehem district, and they are Bank Leumi and Discount Bank. They were on Nativity Square. And Walid never had any connection with those two banks, not a close or a distant connection. I tell you this out of experience. I am one of the people who are considered a responsible man in the area of Bethlehem or Bethahul [Beit Sahur] (ph). I have never heard anything about Walid being a Mujahed or a terrorist. He claims this for his own personal reasons”.
AND “I have never heard anything about Walid being a mujahedeen or a terrorist,” (Article).
EXPLANATION: Daood worked in Bethlehem police as a grunt worker accompanying arrestees during Israel’s time in the West Bank. He was in the jeep with me while I was transported to Mascubieh prison in Jerusalem. At that time he would be considered a traitor and a collaborator. His testimony was considered “checking with police officials” by CNN. It will be difficult for CNN to provide anything that qualifies Daood as a cop, he wasn’t. What the CNN Jerusalem Bureau was doing is an attempt to extract an “official” statement realizing that the Israeli Police would never release such information since Walid was on their records. Yet the CNN U.S. realized that this issue presents a problem for them since Daood has no official status.
His testimony had added two statements and even omitted words in order not to get him in trouble. BOTH added statements are the only statements in Griffin’s printed article [1]”I have never heard anything about Walid being a mujahedeen or a terrorist,” said Daood Shoebat, who says he is Walid Shoebat’s fourth cousin. “[2]He claims this for his own personal reasons.”
Daood is in a rough spot, since saying he was an agent he would have destroyed every family link he had by serving Israel and neither will he be willing to testify that he was a collaborator. This “collaboration” is evident and was twisted by the translator obviously as he was urged to do so by Daood, when Daood’s demeanor changes as he says “I tell you this from experience that is, sir, in all simplicity [honesty], as I was considered to have been an official in Bethlehem and in Beit Sahour…”.
Daood didn’t deny there was a bombing, but suspects that Walid had no connection to it. His few words prior to the interpreter he says something about “an explosion”.
In addition what Daood was stating was that Walid had “no connection to these banks” “not in a near or distant way”, in other words, Daood was possibly confused and thinks that a bombing inside one of the two banks was claimed, that Walid never worked in these banks, not in a direct way (close connection as an employee) or even had an account (distant connection), so how could he have smuggled a bomb inside these two banks? Daood doesn’t even understand the claims and thinks the bombings were inside the banks. He was probably simply asked “was Walid involved in any bombing at Bank Leumi?”.
His statements were misconstrued to make a claim of due-diligence when CNN KNEW quite well that Daood is a bias witness “Back in his hometown of Beit Sahour, outside Bethlehem, relatives say they can’t understand how Shoebat could turn so roundly on his family and his faith”. Yet the use of “relatives” plural shows that is all what CNN obtained from Walid’s family and nothing more to then only hone in a single statement made by Daood “doing it for personal reasons”.
CNN never obtained any statements from Nidal Salameh who was an accomplice or Muhammad Mari Al-Atrash who was arrested at the scene, yet these names were made known to CNN. Neither does Daood deny Walid was in prison, since he knows it’s true. He was in the jeep with Walid as he was an Israeli collaborator heading to Mascubiya.
EVIDENCE OF KNOWLEDGE OF FALSITY: The Pakistani Muslim translator KNEW that he added words that were never stated. The underlined italic was never said by Daood Shoebat: “There were only two banks in Bethlehem district, and they are Bank Leumi and Discount Bank.
The correct translation is the following: “There were not in Bethlehem or the district of Bethlehem but two banks, Bank Leumi and Discount Bank, these were in Manger Square. And Walid had no relations with these Banks, neither a close or a distant relation. I tell you this from experience, that is, sir, in all simplicity, as I was considered to have been an official in Bethlehem and in Beit Sahour, I never heard of anything named Walid”. Word for word translation will be the following:
Arabic: ma kanesh maujood fe beit lahem au fe lua’ beit lahem siwa
English: There were not in Bethlehem or the district of Bethlehem except
Arabic: bankyn, bank Laumi wa-Discounk Bank, hathola kanu fe sahat al-mahd mawjudat
English: two banks, Bank Leumi and Discount Bank, these were in Manger Square
Arabic: wi-Walid umru ma kan lahu ilaka fe al-bankayn, la-bil-qareeb wala-bil-baeed
English: And Walid had no relations with these Banks, neither close or distant relations
Arabic: [unintelligible] ila al khibra, innu ana ya-seedi bi kul basata kunt birutbat masul fe Beit Lahm wa fe Beit Sahur, umri ma smiit an hajeh ismu Walid.
English: […] from experience, that is, sir, in all simplicity, as I am ranked as an official in Bethlehem and in Beit Sahur, I never heard of anything* named Walid.
*Example: as saying “The name Walid never came through my desk”.
A word for word translation of the last statement is:
… unintelligible
ila to
khibra experience
innu that is
ana I
ya O
seedi sir
bi in
kul all
basata simplicity
kunt I was
birutbati in my rank
masul an official

wa and
fe in
Beit Beit
Sahour Sahour
fa-umri during my entire life
ma never
simiit I heard
an of

Walid Walid
The Pakistani translator could have easily had been bias against Walid. It is for this reason that he added: “I have never heard of anything about Walid being a Mujahid or a terrorist” which does not exist in the clip. What does exist is “I have never heard of anything named Walid”.
Daood would never use the term “terrorist” since in his view a terrorist is not “a terrorist” but a “Jihadist”. Making Daood say the word “terrorist” would be impossible since saying it is treason.
The interpreter added: “He claims this for his own personal reasons” which does not exist. This was added to claim that Walid is doing it for “money”. Griffin then takes off as soon as the clip ends to say “what personal reasons” without being asked as he was on July 13th by Cooper. This “personal reasons” was intentionally doctored in.
The translator for “Cooper” simply borrowed from “Hooper” from CAIR “The people that are doing this do it to make money or get converts or to get some personal benefit,” Hooper said.”
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/06/25/AR2010062504435_2.html
This will make everything that Cooper asked about and Griffin commented on are regarding statements that were never said.
FOURTH—HOW CNN PAINTED WALID AND KEITH AS “CROOKS”
___________________________________________________________________________
FALSITY: “He [Walid] claims this for his own personal reasons. What personal reasons?” Griffin: “Well, there’s a big personal reasons, it’s called money, I don’t have to tell you, classic investigative reporting, follow the money…”
AND:
DAVIES: Well, most of the money is used to help persecuted Christians in the Middle East that the media doesn’t want to talk about.
GRIFFIN: I will talk about it if you can give me any information about that.
DAVIES: Yes, we have a Web site that you can have all the information about what we do on our Web site. It’s RescueChristians.org.
GRIFFIN: I read that. It’s very unspecific as to what exactly is going on, where the money is going. Keith, I’ve got to ask you, because I do a lot of this type of reporting on charities, organizations that collect money for various funds. Everything is not very transparent. Is this — are you running a scam here?
AND
COOPER: And it’s interesting. I mean, if somebody’s running a legitimate foundation that’s tax-exempt and stuff, I mean usually they’re very willing to be transparent and willing to give documents and stuff. It sounds like those guys were saying, oh, yes, we will send you these documents, and then nothing shows up.
GRIFFIN: No. And it’s all wrapped in this secrecy and security. They’re under the impression we’re asking for the names of some Christian trainees in the Middle East that are being persecuted.
COOPER: Right, which you’re not.
GRIFFIN: We’re not. We’re just trying to figure out where is the money going, because we cannot find out where this money is going.
COOPER: Well, it’s also interesting in your piece because Shoebat said, oh, well this foundation is part of this other thing and it pays for speaking and teaching, which basically is what he does, oh, and also helping Christians. The other guy said it mainly goes to helping Christians, and yet again no details.
GRIFFIN: And I think you could see from the reporting, we couldn’t get a straight answer about anything from just about anybody.
EVIDENCE OF KNOWLEDGE OF FALSITY: CNN KNEW that Mr. Shoebat doesn’t strictly do his work for money since he didn’t get paid to get on CNN several times. CNN KNEW this since Cooper himself stated: “Shoebat, now in his 50s, says he converted to Christianity in 1993 and began spreading the word about the dangers of Islam. He has been interviewed as a terrorism expert on several television programs, including a handful of appearances on CNN and its sister network, HLN, in 2006 and 2007”.
By this CNN KNEW Walid’s bio well. CNN KNEW that when Shoebat appeared on CNN several times that this was free of charge. They KNEW that he “converted to Christianity in 1993” and “began [in 1993] spreading the word” in which Shoebat left the software work in 2005. From 1994-2005 all of his first books were downloadable—free of charge (Dear Muslim and Israel and The World’s Mock Trial) and Walid has been telling the same story for 13 years (1993-2005) without being paid a single cent. Griffin heard his entire story at South Dakota and recorded it so they must have known all this.
CNN also KNEW that FFMU sends money to persecuted victims in Pakistan. The Shoebat Foundation even offered to accompany CNN to interview the Christians in Pakistan that they send financial aid to. This would have proven beyond doubt that no scam was going on. In the email sent to CNN to Kathleen Johnston on May 27th it states: “we will be glad to have our trusted rep in Pakistan accompany your investigative crew in Pakistan to meet and examine the veracity of the victims stories and claims… We will also be glad to disclose to you in private the financial aid that we have done so far with direct aid to the families.” (See email to Johnston, May 27th, Point #2).
Although this was in response to Griffin’s request, “I will talk about it if you can give me any information about that” since Griffin was not satisfied to learn about the Pakistan issue from rescuechristians.org in which Griffin acknowledged to have read and offered to talk about it, yet his word was false. Griffin was offered and never kept his word or publicized our offer. Neither did Johnston reply to our written offer to show the detailed financial expenses we send to Pakistan which proves beyond doubt that CNN intended to slander and did not want any evidence that proves them wrong. In FACT Griffin himself KNEW this “That reporting continued in our various e-mails and contacts with these fellows after that”.
Yet CNN aired their piece on July 14th a month and a half later knowing this offer stood firm. CNN never took the offer or even replied to our offer. This shows that CNN could care less if it was true and it shows that they intentionally ignored it since the Pakistani issue was not important to them, but slandering FFMU was.
Also, why would a scam outfit send money to Pakistani suffering Christians?
CNN also KNEW that FFMU pays Special Guests to do radio interviews. Shoebat also gets involved in helping people on daily basis and responds to tons of email regarding biblical questions, writing countless articles all free of charge. The Shoebat Fdn was involved in rescuing women and children from Saudi Arabia. One case in point was hiring McGivney an investigator that was paid to help her and the mission was a success.
CNN KNEW that FFMU spent $80,000 in Texas for the Fort Hood Massacre.
Shoebat was recognized by NCIC (National Center for Intelligence and Counter Terrorism), and honored by the Governor of Kentucky Ernie Fletcher as “Honorable Walid Shoebat” commissioned as “Kentucky Colonel” on February 2nd, 2007. The Certificate of Appreciation was also awarded from Greg Abbott, Attorney General of Texas on July 21st, 2008, and from The State of Texas House of Representatives on July 16th, 2008 and from the Baltimore Jewish Community rewarded as “Defender of Israel Award”.
DEFAMATION: By this CNN is insinuating that Walid had no principles and is strictly a money hungry scam artist. The Shoebat Fdn was in no obligation to provide sensitive evidence to prove anything to CNN. It became obvious that CNN was not interested to examine evidence that collaborates the integrity of the Shoebat Foundation by offering them the chance to prove that they were “no scam artists” and that there work was legitimate. Yet CNN aired that these were “scam artists” and “frauds”.
___________________________________________________________________________
FALSITY: “As for Shoebat, he did get testy. Later sessions after that interview, he began attacking the media, specifically CNN, for doubting his story. He has since accused us and you, Anderson, of being used by the Council on American-Islamic Relations, even suggesting that group was the primary source for our report, which, of course, is not true”.
EVIDENCE OF KNOWLEDGE OF FALSITY: Much of what was used by CNN has been circulating the Internet by CAIR (Council on American Islamic Relations). Steven Emerson of IPT (Investigative Projects on Terrorism) was in contact with an impeachable source within CNN who disclosed to the Shoebat Foundation regarding CAIR’s contacts with CNN. In fact, CAIR Tampa chapter disclosed to it’s supporters in it’s summer accomplishments for Summer of 2011, that: “CAIR Tampa has helped contribute to what is perhaps one of the most groundbreaking accomplishments for the muslim community in 2011: The exposure of many of the so called “ex-Muslim,” “ex-terrorist” or “sharia expert” speakers who have been paid by the government and private groups what totals millions of dollars to incite hatred against Islam and Muslims and outlaw islam. These professional islamophobe bigots appeared often on mainstream media and news outlets as experts on Islam. Alhamdulilah [Praise be to Allah] CAIR Tampa has helped expose many of them as frauds this summer. Many of the mainstream media outlets including CNN and the new York times have published exposes on them. Alhamdulilah it is a great blessing that such ignorant and hateful people will no longer be viewed as experts on Islam by the mainstream media. Less than a year ago these voices were seen as authorative experts on islam and proponents of hate groups. However we have lots of work ahead of us to ensure that they are no longer invited by the government and faith organizations to spread hatred against Islam”.
CNN, RT News and ABC Chicago then all maliciously slandered Walid Shoebat attacking his credibility and the veracity of his well-established background with similar reports.
FIFTH: HOW CNN USED EXAGGERATIONS
___________________________________________________________________________
FALSITY: CNN stated “It [Shoebat’s story] didn’t add up at all which is what is so troubling about this connection in Norway, because not only does Shoebat reach out to would-be terrorist over in Norway…”
ALSO
Griffin stated: “this suspect in Norway was an avid reader of everything that Walid Shoebat was putting out and continues to put out on his Website”.
EVIDENCE OF KNOWLEDGE OF FALSITY: Griffin stated: “We have no idea that these two men ever met, ever talked to each other”. Why then would Griffin state what he stated? Griffin disclosed that the Norway killer produced a “1,500-page manifesto” yet “14 quotes” constitutes an infinitesimal number, probably .03%. Griffin stretched the truth of the matter by using this “14 quotes” argument used by the Norway killer.
Griffin by connecting that “Walid’s story doesn’t add up” insinuating that his claim being an “x-terrorist” is false, and since it is “false” then Walid has an ulterior motive as a supporter of terrorism. This is established since by using the word “[Walid’s] connection in Norway” and “not only does Shoebat reach out to would be terrorist in Norway” insinuates that Shoebat and the Norway killer are connected and that Walid was supporter of terrorism. How could CNN deny Walid being a terrorist then here imply that he supports terrorism? It’s an amazing contradiction that is simply twisting Walid’s story denying him ever been a “Muslim terrorist” but converted to be a “Christian terrorist”.
Norway terrorist also quoted Condoleezza Rice praised Obama and plagiarized the Unabomber and quoted Robert Spencer and others. Yet no one is holding the president or radical environmentalists responsible for the murders. CNN’s defendants simply honed in on Shoebat. The Norway killer also hated Mr. Shoebat which CNN never mentioned.
Griffin stated that only “14 references” that the Norway suspect quoted from Walid which hardly proves that the Norway killer was “an avid reader of everything that Walid Shoebat was putting out” to even go further stating that the Norway killer reads what Walid “continues to put out on his Website”? The Norway killer is in prison. CNN also knew that not one statement did Walid ever make to support killing anyone. This attempts to make Walid influential in raising terrorists, its an example of equating him to Anwar Al-Awlaki communicating with Nidal Malek Hassan, an individual whom Walid spent $80,000 to combat.
___________________________________________________________________________
FALSITY: CNN quoted Walid as saying: “all Islamic organizations from doctors to engineers to students ought to be investigated…” and “All Islamic organizations in America should be the No. 1 enemy. All of them,” he says” also “told audience members to be leery of Muslim doctors, engineers…” AND “Anderson, based on the three sessions we sat in with Walid Shoebat and our interview with him, we can tell you he does advocate profiling and flatly being suspicious of anybody who’s Muslim”. AND “Shoebat warned that making special accommodations for Muslim beliefs was a step toward establishing Islamic religious law”. AND “He warned the police and first responders gathered in the hotel conference rooms that the Lebanese Shiite Muslim militia Hezbollah had operatives working in Mexico and that drug cartels were raising money with Islamic groups”.
EVIDENCE OF KNOWLEDGE OF FALSITY: On CNN’s clip, (minute 2:50) it was clear that CNN KNEW what Walid stated: “know your enemy, all Islamist organizations are your enemy”. “Islamist” is pertaining to Muslim fundamentalists and not “Islamic” or “Muslims” as insinuated by Anderson Cooper.
Even CNN’s own transcript which is what CNN uses to read the teleprompter states it correctly: “SHOEBAT: Know your enemy. Know your enemy. All Islamist organizations in America should be the number one enemy — all of them, Islamist organizations. Islamists in America should be focused on. You’ve got that on camera.” (Transcript by CNN, July 27th, 2011)
CNN never provided or can provide such quotes that Shoebat said not to trust Muslim doctors since CNN KNEW from their video recording of over two hours the truth of the matter: “people ask me all the time, do I trust my Muslim doctor, and I say ask him first, do you support Shariah law?” in other words is he radical, if not you can trust him. This is a much different context. Neither can CNN provide evidence for the quote: “Shoebat warned that making special accommodations for Muslim beliefs was a step toward establishing Islamic religious law” is FALSE, Shoebat warned not about “personal beliefs” but certain Islamic organizations “demands” certain privileges and even given examples of Muslim Taxi drivers that refuse to accommodate for a canine used by blind people, basketball courts made specially for Muslim girls at universities…are all attempts to make America Sharia compliant.
When Griffin says: “he does advocate profiling and flatly being suspicious of anybody who’s Muslim”, he is mixing and adding statements that were never said, why Walid does advocate profiling at airports, this by no means is to “be suspicious of anybody who’s Muslim”. CNN did not and cannot provide anything to back this claim.
When CNN aired Walid as saying: “If you meet the unbelievers, then smite off their necks. What part of smite off their necks do you Americans don’t understand”. Walid was not simply quoting the Quran, but he was quoting what the I.A.P (Islamic Association of Palestine) recited. I.A.P is a defunct Hamas terror branch in the U.S., which held a conference reciting the verse. Walid was simply showing how Hamas terrorist organization was infiltrating and influencing Muslims in America to follow radical Islam by quoting this verse. CNN wanted to stretch what Walid really said and took everything out of context.
The statement “drug cartels were raising money with Islamic groups” was never said by Walid. What Walid was warning about is the borders and that Hezbollah is likely to bribe drug cartels to infiltrate the borders. Nothing was said about “raising money” collectively. This attempt is to portray Walid as ignorant. It is for this reason the statement is not in a quote. The focus of CNN is attempting to twist what Walid said and only focus on minor mistakes while ignoring two hours of facts simply shows that CNN is attempting to stretch the facts to portray Walid negatively, an intent to destroy his character and his story.
Regarding Doctors, what Walid really said is: “people ask me all the time, do I trust my Muslim doctor, and I say ask him first, do you support Shariah law?” in other words is he radical, if not you can trust him. This is a much different context. Walid doesn’t hate Muslims. On page 8 on Why We Want to Kill you, Walid states “Was it a sin that I began to love Jews, as well as Hindus, Buddhists, and Muslims?”
___________________________________________________________________________
FALSITY: CNN stated: “Some of the so-called experts that go around the country teaching and sometimes preaching on the dangers of Islam, are not what they seem; people like Walid Shoebat”. “perhaps more surprising from a man who bills himself as a terror expert”. (Article) “He has an advertised pedigree that makes him an expert”, “Being a terrorism expert is a cottage industry since 9/11”, “But in April, the bipartisan leaders of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee raised concerns about “vitriolic diatribes” being delivered by “self-appointed counterterrorism experts” at similar seminars”.
EVIDENCE OF KNOWLEDGE OF FALSITY: CNN wanted to stretch Walid’s billing from x-terrorist to “expert”. CNN KNEW that Walid never billed himself as a “terrorism expert” but simply an “x-terrorist” as Griffin stated himself: “An ex-terrorist, it’s Walid Shoebat’s claim to fame…”. CNN KNEW that this new title “expert” was manufactured by them and is an exaggeration since they have reviewed all the tapes from CNN’s own archives and never found that billing: “He has been interviewed as a terrorism expert on several television programs, including a handful of appearances on CNN and its sister network, HLN, in 2006 and 2007”.
Yet none of the showings on CNN and HLN indicate that Shoebat was an “expert” but simply an “X-terrorist”, an author who talks about his life experience as Muslim who lived in the Middle East. Even CNN’s own article stated Walid saying at Homeland Security: “”You need ex-terrorists who can tell you what life is like and what thinking is like of potential terrorists,” Shoebat said”.
CNN intended to build Shoebat as an “expert” in order to apply statements that does not concern him: “But in April, the bipartisan leaders of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee raised concerns about “vitriolic diatribes” being delivered by “self-appointed counterterrorism experts” at similar seminars”. CNN attempts to link his entire work as a main agent in advising Homlenad Security “Since al Qaeda’s 2001 attacks on New York and Washington, expertise on terrorism has been in high demand. The federal Department of Homeland Security has spent nearly $40 million on counterterrorism training since 2006”.
Walid was neither “preaching” at Homeland Security event in South Dakota or else CNN would have aired parts of a Church sermon. Walid did give his testimony on how the mindset of an Islamist terrorist and how they’re eschatological and Mahdist views poses a threat to America’s future.
Griffin KNEW Walid’s “billing”:
“It’s a message Shoebat is selling based on his own background as a Palestinian-American convert to conservative Christianity. Born in the West Bank, the son of an American mother, he says he was a Palestinian Liberation Organization terrorist in his youth who helped firebomb an Israeli bank in Bethlehem and spent time in an Israeli jail”. Yet the report continued “But CNN reporters in the United States, Israel and the Palestinian territories found no evidence that would support that biography”. CNN KNEW that the “biography” is true, they went to his village, found his home and spoke to his family, Walid’s mother is an American, he did convert to Christianity, they knew he was born in the West Bank, they went to his village and found it including his family and residence.
All of Walid’s bio was confirmed. CNN portrayed Walid as a con artist whom without valid academic qualifications who defrauded the government as an “official” expert. They insinuated that he is a fanatic who preaches sermons without a proper occasion, a lunatic madman and a “preacher gone mad”. Walid was not invited as an “expert” but as an alternative view of a person with different perspective having lived in the Middle East in a society that is infested with violence.
___________________________________________________________________________
FALSITY: CNN (on camera) stated: Being a terrorism expert is a cottage industry since 9/11. The Department of Homeland Security has spent billions of dollars on anti-terrorism just since 2006. DHS doesn’t keep records on how much it spent just on speakers. But some of the so-called experts who go around the country teaching and in some cases preaching about terrorism and the dangers of Islam are not quite what they seem. People, it turns out, like Walid Shoebat.
EVIDENCE OF KNOWLEDGE OF FALSITY: CNN KNEW that Walid NEVER solicited Homeland Security for work. Had he intended to be an advisor or an expert to provide them services, he would at least solicit and advertise himself as “expert”. Yet CNN declared it was a “cottage industry”, yet named no one in this “cottage” except Walid who in the last 8 years gained around 30K from Homeland Security events. CNN stretched the facts and painted an overly exaggerated picture of Walid.
___________________________________________________________________________
FALSITY: Griffin stated: “[Walid] does not like tough questions”. Also, “He [Mr. Shoebat] became even more defensive when we began asking about his foundations, his tax-exempt status and all the money he is making”.
EVIDENCE OF KNOWLEDGE OF FALSITY: This was evident from Griffin’s own statements which contradicted his previous remark: “The business in fact Shoebat leaves up to his manager, Keith Davies, who was down the hall selling Shoebat’s anti-Islam books”.
DEFAMATION: CNN insinuated that Shoebat had something to hide. This was also alluded to when Shoebat told Griffin “none of your business”, but the question Griffin asked was regarding how Shoebat funds the endangered persecuted Christians and had nothing to do with “tough questions”. Yet Griffin insinuated that since the questions were about money, that Griffin was exposing “a scam”, Fact is Walid simply referred them to his manager Mr. Keith Davies who tracks the finances of the foundation.
__________________________________________________________________________
FALSITY: CNN’s caption stated: “Ex-Terrorist rakes in homeland security bucks”.
AND “ He says he was a Palestinian terrorist, jailed by the Israelis. But it’s a life story based on very little evidence. But it sure pays well. Tax records filed by his business partner reveal his speaking engagements earned more than $560,000 in 2009”.
EVIDENCE OF KNOWLEDGE OF FALSITY:
How could CNN claim that Walid “rakes in homeland security bucks” when CNN stated that Walid made his money from book sales, not “homeland security” events: “That billing helps him land speaking engagements like a May event in Rapid City — a forum put on by the state Office of Homeland Security, which paid Shoebat $5,000 for the appearance. He’s a darling on the church and university lecture circuit, with his speeches, books and video sales bringing in $500,000-plus in 2009, according to tax records”. AND “The money is coming from universities and churches and from your tax dollars. Some of his appearances are paid out of Homeland Security grants”. The use “some” shows that CNN knows that their caption is false.
CNN KNEW from Walid’s response that “So why the skepticism if somebody collects half a million dollars? You think it goes to my pocket? It’s absolutely untrue”. CNN had no evidence presented in their research to deny Walid’s claim.
CNN KNEW that all what Walid made from DHS throughout the years since the events were made public and caused much controversy which are estimated at $5000 a year in the past 8 years. How could that be “raking Homeland Security bucks” or “pays well”?
The use of the term “rakes” is an exaggeration to insinuate that Homeland Security is gushing forth money into the “fraudulent” Shoebat’s coffers.

The UN report reads: “Lea Tsemel’s clients whom Hedva Sarid says she saw being kicked, was a youth-called Mahmud el-Mughrabi. Mughrabi was one of 24 Palestinians we interviewed who had been interrogated in the Russian Compound – “Moscobiya” the Arabs call it.” “Thus the faces constantly re-appear among the countless detainees whose names can (or cannot) be seen on graffiti on the filthy walls of the Russian Compound (Moskubiye) prison cells”. (The assassination mission that killed Al-Mughrabi can be pulled up on video via Al-Jazeera.) Arab sources like Middle East Report lamented his death:
“In pain and sorrow we learn that our friend Mahmud Al-Mughrabi was killed during the October bombing raid in Tunisia. Mahmud was born in Jerusalem in 1960. By the age of 16 he was under detention 12 times and he was one of the first to speak in public about the methods of interrogation of Palestinian detainees used by the General Security Services in Israel. In 1984, he managed to escape to Jordan after years of increasingly marginal existence under steadily deteriorating conditions of military occupation.”
Famed Egyptian terror-apologist Edward Said spoke of Al-Mughrabi: “One of the victims of the Tunis bombing was Mahmoud Al-Mughrabi, born in Jerusalem in 1960, under detention twelve times by the age of 16, one of the informants of The Sunday Times to expose of torture in Israel (19 June, 1977) who ‘managed to escape to Jordan after years of increasingly marginal existence under steadily deteriorating existence of the Israeli occupation’, according to a memorial notice by Israeli Jewish friends that was repeatedly denied publication in Arab newspapers in East Jerusalem by Israeli military censorship.”
