Darrell Issa Defends Sharia Law; sounds like Chris Christie

When praise comes from the Muslim Brotherhood, it undoubtedly means that whomever is the recipient of such praise has done something wrong. Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) was singled out by CAIR for his Chris Christie-like rant in defense of Islam and Sharia law.

Issa: Sounding like Chris Christie on Sharia.

Issa: Sounding like Chris Christie on Sharia.

The comments by Issa which won him accolades from CAIR were in response to charges by one California gubernatorial candidate – Tim Donnelly – about his opponent, Neel Kashkari. In 2008, in his role as Assistant Treasury Secretary, Kashkari represented the Treasury Department in a conference designed to put a friendly face on Sharia Compliant Finance (SCF).

Donnelly rightfully called Kashkari out on this. Though to Donnelly’s discredit, he later apologized.

Here is what Issa said of Donnelly:

“There is no place in any public discussion for this type of hateful and ignorant garbage. As far as I’m concerned, this type of stupidity disqualifies Donnelly from being fit to hold any office, anywhere.”

As for the Governor’s race, neither Donnelly nor Kashkari are expected to have a chance against incumbent and one-time Jim Jones ally Jerry Brown. None of those three men is the story here.

With rhetoric on par with New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, Issa is the one who is exposing himself as ignorant. By using words like “hateful” and “stupidity” when talking about Donnelly’s completely justified and accurate comments before the apology, it is Issa who is showing himself to be ignorant of a truly “hateful” ideology.

The issue isn’t even about whether Kashkari is Muslim (he doesn’t appear to be). It has to do with his assistance in shining a positive light on Sharia finance.

This entire episode says far more about Issa than it does either Donnelly or Kashkari.

Here is New Jersey Governor Christie in 2011, in which he defended his Muslim appointment Sohail Mohammed while painting as ignorant anyone who has concerns about encroaching Sharia:
