As countries are locking themselves down across the world because of the COVID-19 coronavirus, the second most populous nation of India has followed suit, locking down their nation in what some are saying is the largest lockdown in history that will last for twenty-one days.
Addressing the nation for the second time in less than a week, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for a nationwide lockdown starting midnight to contain the novel coronavirus . The duration of the lockdown will be 21 days, added Modi. Providing a rationale behind this major step, Modi said that it was necessitated due the severity of the situation.
Reiterating the importance of social distancing, he said, we can only prevent new cases and contain the virus through it. India may have to pay a big price due to the negligence of a few. “To stop coronavirus, stay at a distance from each other and stay inside your houses,” he said.
“If we don’t handle these 21 days well, then our country, your family will go backwards by 21 years,” Modi added underscoring the importance of self-isolation and social distancing.
There will be complete bar on people from stepping outsides their homes, he said and even folded his hands to emphasise his request to citizens to adhere to the call. (source)
As I have said before, the virus is a concern, but what is a greater danger are the political implications.
It is not an accident, as I have also said, that Trump went to meet with Modi shortly after this virus issue started, as the US is seeking to back India against the Chinese in a coming global conflict. This comes at a time when Hindu nationalism is rising in India, and it is manifesting through anti-Christian violence.
As the Hindu nationalists rise in power, the situation of Christians will become more precarious. Indeed, there will likely come a point that if serious persecution begins, America will ignore it because of geopolitics and money. Just like in the Second World War, she will ignore the suffering of the innocent so long as it is politically expedient, and then will try to dump the blame on somebody else while hiding or ignoring her own issues, with the common excuse of “mistakes were made.”

In fact, it is so detailed that theoretically, one can be restricted from buying or selling if the government wanted to do so, it contains biometric information, and almost all of the people in India are enrolled into it.
The reason for this is not because India actually cares about her people. To the contrary, she wants to exterminate the “undesirables,” which are Christians in the mind of Hindu terrorists, and the way that she is tracking them is through the Aadhaar system.
The COVID-19 lockdown is truly, in one sense, about public health, for over a billion people in an area about one-third the size of the US is a lot of people.
