“Instathots” or “Instahoes”, referring to women who sell scantily clad or outright pornographic pictures of themselves on sites such as Instagram, OnlyFans, and Twitter have become a major market, with women earning thousands of dollars a month from men, referred to as “simpletons” or “simps”, and sometimes the derogatory term “paypigs”, who give their money to these women for their photos. This is a disgusting and disturbing practice that has been going on for some time now.
With COVID-19 causing a lot of women to be put out of work, many women have turned to prostituting themselves on camera for their new job. However, as the UK Daily Mail points out from the view of one such woman, the market is not what is used to be, with these women earning a lot less money because of market saturation.
A distraught Gold Coast influencer had a breakdown last week because the coronavirus pandemic led to a drop in followers on her X-rated OnlyFans account.
Billie Beever, who has 113,000 Instagram fans and supports herself by posting adult content on the subscription website, cried as she revealed she can no longer pay her rent.
The 27-year-old charges $12.99-a-month for access to her pictures and makes extra through tips and requests – but jobless fans can no longer afford to follow her.
She continued: ‘I can’t pay my rent, I can’t work. Even if I was to go back to work, what am I meant to do? Strip clubs are all closed, you can’t even be close to somebody because of social distancing.
‘I have nothing else going for me, I have no other talent. I’ve got nothing else. I can’t dance, I can’t sing, I can’t do anything. I don’t understand what I’m supposed to do. I just want everything to go back to normal so people can keep subscribing.’ (source)
I don’t agree with camwhoring. However, it is good the market is saturated because this is how a market- any market -dies a natural death.
The fact that so much online prostitution takes places is a scandal, just as with porn, and a greater scandal that it has never been dealt with. However, the flooding of the market with women to try to make money selling themselves, as with any commodity, causes a price drop. Basically, being a prostitute doesn’t pay any more, and with more men becoming poorer because of the worsening situations for work, these women cannot charge or earn what they used to.
Get rid of the “instagram” female market. It needs to die. Women need to return to modesty, and roles that bring honor to themselves and society. The same for men, who need to stop enabling whoredom and spend their money on productive things, as well as make positive changes for themselves. It is the responsibly of both genders in their particular context to do this, and perhaps this virus will compel this to happen.
One does not find meaning in life by selling naked photos of oneself to get the attention of men, nor is it found in purchasing said naked photos to feel a sense of connection to replace the emptiness of one’s soul. It is found rather by turning to God, repenting of sin, then struggling through difficulty towards one’s purpose in life and doing what is right regardless of what the cost it.
The best part is, no matter how far one has gone down the wrong path, there is always a hope of repentance. Never forget this, for God did not come to condemn man but to save him so long as he repents and changes his ways.
But for now, it is hopeful this trend will continue, for perhaps the virus will not just force open the corruption of the economy, but that of mens’ hearts, that they might self-examine and make better decisions before there is no more time to change…
