Supreme Court Hater Trump Asks Supreme Court To Prevent His Tax Records From Being Turned Over To NY District Attorney

It is understood that anybody who comes into a field as a ‘new’ player may have a lot of learn. President Trump is no exception, stepping from the entertainment business world into the presidency. However, Trump also has shown inclinations to dictatorial power with no respect to the Constitution or laws, no matter how weak they may be now. He has shown open contempt for the Supreme Court, and made this clear to such a point that Supreme Court justices have criticized him. But now with legal threats mounting in an election year, Trump is now asking the Supreme Court according to the AP to block his tax records from being turned over to New York Prosecutors.

President Donald Trump is hoping to persuade a Supreme Court with two of his appointees to keep his tax and other financial records from being turned over to lawmakers and a New York district attorney.

The justices are hearing arguments by telephone Tuesday in a pivotal legal fight that could affect the presidential campaign, even with the coronavirus outbreak and the resulting economic fallout. Rulings against the president could result in the quick release of personal financial information that Trump has sought strenuously to keep private.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump is hoping to persuade a Supreme Court with two of his appointees to keep his tax and other financial records from being turned over to lawmakers and a New York district attorney.

The justices have been hearing cases by phone this month in an effort to help slow the spread of the novel coronavirus. Six of the nine Supreme Court justices are over the age of 65.

Trump has resisted calls to release his tax returns since before his election in 2016. Now, joined by the Justice Department, he is appealing lower court rulings that determined subpoenas issued by the House of Representatives and the Manhattan district attorney to his longtime accounting firm and two banks for years of tax returns, bank records and other financial documents are valid.

The president is advancing broad arguments to try to stymie House Democrats. In the case involving the criminal investigation launched by District Attorney Cyrus R. Vance Jr., Trump is asserting that while he holds office he cannot even be investigated.

His Supreme Court arguments draw on law review articles that will be very familiar to one member of the court. “At the end of the day, ‘a President who is concerned about an ongoing criminal investigation is almost inevitably going to do a worse job as President,’” Trump’s lawyers told the court, quoting from a 2009 article by now-Justice Brett Kavanaugh. Trump is still likely going to win, but he is in a LOT of trouble. If Biden was not being promoted as he is, it is likely that Trump would be a one-term president because, like him or not, he has fundamentally refused to follow through on his most basic promises in the most basic way, and has turned his base against him while pushing the nation ever closer towards bankruptcy.

A second Trump term will only worsen what is already taking place. This is where Biden is so important, because he is being presented as a potentially greater failure than what Trump will be. In essence, it is not voting for Trump because he will ‘make America great again’, but supporting Biden because Trump is the ‘only option’ unless one wants a man with dementia and a long history of sexual assault running the nation.

The whole thing is a show. Trump likely did commit crimes, and his records will show this. He does not only lack knowledge about government, but actively has contempt for the institutions unless they allow him to do whatever he wants.

If anything his time in office has done has been to expose who Trump really is, which is an actor, a scammer, and a fool, as all of his talk about “business” has been more of an act to advertise himself no different than a cheap infomercial telling people how they can “get rich quick” when the only one getting rich is the person who is making the commercials.

It will be interesting though to see what his tax records are if they are allowed to be exposed, for Trump’s past is very fascinating and seeing how the different relations he has with many people throughout his history would be a very enlightening and informative thing to see. In the words of so many people, if Trump has nothing to hide, what fear would he have in seeing his records made public, especially during an election year?
