Syria is becoming a major transit hub for the exportation of Middle East oil. Right now, 5,000 oil trucks are going through Syria every single day. Syria is now being seen as an alternative to the Strait of Hormuz. The country that has the most power in Syria, is Turkey. So this use of Syria as a transit hub for energy is a testament to the growing power of Turkey as a rising global force. Add to this Turkey’s aspiration to unite all of the Turkic Central Asian countries, and to become a bridge for the transport of Central Asian resources into Europe, and you can see how Turkey is seriously becoming an empire. On top of this, Turkey is deepening ties with Iran currently. With Iran controlling the Strait of Hormuz, and Turkey ruling over the Bosphorus, the Dardanelles, and now that Syria is a major route for the movement of Mid East oil, this Turko-Iranian axis will be a massive powerhouse that will dominate the Middle East. Israel is now terrified of this looming power, and is seriously even preparing for Turkey to do a naval blockade on it in the Mediterranean Sea. All of these events presage a Turko-Israeli conflict.
