Source: Terrorists in Algeria used weapons provided to Libyan rebels by NATO

The ‘unintended’ consequences of the Obama-backed NATO effort in Libya apparently didn’t stop with the murder of four Americans in Benghazi. If reports are correct, weapons funneled to Libyan rebels by NATO may have been used in the recent terrorist attack / hostage crisis in Algeria.

Via the Telegraph:

Many of the Islamist terrorists shot their way into the In Amenas compound on Thursday using the AK104 model of Kalashnikov, which was typically used by Libyan rebels in the war against Muammar Gaddafi.

They brought F5 rockets that also surfaced in the Libyan war, said the security source.

The Islamists wore the same type of outfits that Qatar provided to Libyan National Transitional Council rebels by Qatar – yellow flak jackets with brown patches, known as “chocolate chip” camouflage. The garments are copies of ones worn by Americans in the Gulf war.

To this point, the number of dead stands at 37, with at least one of those dead being an American.

Via CNN:

At least one American, identified as Frederick Buttaccio, is among the dead, the State Department said. Six freed Americans left Algeria and one remained.

If the Telegraph report is correct, one of the things Buttaccio may have in common with the four Americans murdered in Benghazi on 9/11/12 is that the Obama administration armed their killers.

Another parallel to Fast and Furious?

**UPDATE** Two more Americans found dead.
