On July 27th, we posted about Huma Abedin’s sister – Heba Abedin – also being listed as an Assistant Editor with the Institute of Muslim Minority Affairs (IMMA). We also concluded that the name “Heba A. Khalid” which appears on the IMMA website is actually Heba Abedin.

Today, we explain how we reached that conclusion.

Prior to the name of Al-Qaeda Godfather, Abdullah Omar Naseef being removed from IMMA’s Advisory Editorial Board in late 2003 or early 2004, Heba’s last name was spelled with an “e” instead of with an “i” (Khaled). In 2007, both “Mrs.” Heba Abedin and a man named Sohail Khalid each contributed $2300 to the presidential campaign of Senator Chris Dodd (D-CT) on the same day; Heba and Sohail are also listed as living at the same address.

Interestingly, when contributing to Chris Dodd’s campaign, the married Heba used her maiden name and identified herself as “Mrs. Heba Abedin.” Why wasn’t she known as “Mrs. Heba Khalid”? Based on the fact that Heba changed the spelling of her name on the IMMA website (from “Khaled” to “Khalid”) at about the same time that Naseef’s name was removed from the website, we have concluded that there was a high degree of sensitivity on the part of Heba when it came to being identified as an editor with IMMA.

Something that happened a few short months before Heba’s last name changed and Naseef’s was removed in late 2003 or early 2004 (prior to April) may provide a degree of insight. None other than Abdurahman Alamoudi was arrested in October of 2003 (convicted in 2004) of fundraising for terrorists. Alamoudi is connected to Naseef through an organization known as SAAR.

**UPDATE** Even though all of this information is publicly available, we decided to redact the actual street addresses that are listed for both Abedin and Khalid but they are, indeed, identical.
