Walid co-signs letter calling on House Homeland Security Chairman to hold hearings on Al Gore / Al Jazeera deal

The new Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, Rep. Michael McCaul (R-TX) – who replaced Rep. Peter King (R-NY) this month – has been sent a letter by Cliff Kincaid of America’s Survial and Accuracy in Media, which has several signatories, including Walid, Pamela Geller, Brent Bozell, Frank Gaffney, Steven Emerson, Larry Grathwohl, and several others. The letter asks Rep. McCaul to hold hearings on Al Jazeera’s purchase of Current TV and subsequent plans to operate as ‘Al Jazeera America’ on American soil. The letter opens up with a very strong statement from the father of slain Wall Street Journal reporter, Daniel Pearl.

Via USA Survival:

“A decade of watching over its programs has left me no doubt: Al Jazeera is the main propaganda machine of the Muslim Brotherhood. Posing as a benign alternative communication medium, Al Jazeera choreographs a world stage in which the West is a perennial villain, Hamas is the ultimate role model, and entire societies are dehumanized to a lower form of life, stripped of any mark of dignity or empathy. While refraining from explicit incitement to violence, Al Jazeera weaves the ideological structure and combustible angers from which Jihadi recruits eventually emerge.”

If one understands the concept of doublespeak used by individuals like Feisal Abdul Rauf, for example, it’s easy to understand how a gargantuan media entity like Al Jazeera would do the same thing.

In much the same way that mainstream media outlets are selective in what they choose not to report – ACORN / Fast and Furious scandals, for example – Kincaid makes the point that Al Jazeera does the same thing by pointing to the sexual assault on Lara Logan at Tahrir Square in 2011:

…Al-Jazeera English didn’t devote a story to the sexual assault on CBS News correspondent Lara Logan during the Muslim Brotherhood-led revolution in Egypt. Reporting on the Logan attack would have undermined the story that the uprising was all about overturning an oppressive government rather than turning Egypt into a radical Muslim state that would no longer ally itself with the U.S. or Israel.

Covering the Lara Logan story would have harmed Al Jazeera’s agenda if one accepts the premise that it is an arm of the Muslim Brotherhood, just like covering the ACORN / Fast and Furious scandals would have harmed the left-wing agenda if one accepts the premise that the the likes of MSNBC is an arm of the Obama administration.

Kincaid then explains why Al Jazeera should not be allowed to operate in the United States:

Mr. Chairman, we must never forget the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on America. In order to prevent similar attacks from happening again, the Islamist enemy must be prevented from gaining a foothold in the U.S. media market and reaching Muslims and others in America with inflammatory hate-America messages. Giving Al Jazeera access to tens of millions of households, through its acquisition of Current TV, could lay the groundwork for more attacks on American citizens from within our own borders in the form of home-grown Jihadism. There have been dozens of cases of homegrown violent jihadists who have plotted murder and carried out attacks on American soil since 9/11. The U.S. should prevent and not be encouraging these cases by giving foreign Jihadists access to the U.S. media market.

This excerpt from the letter is particularly salient:

The new “Al Jazeera America” may start out by softening its tone, in order to fool people about its real agenda, but the fact remains that the owners running the pro-Jihadist regime in Qatar ultimately control the channel’s news policies and personnel.

For years, western mainstream media has portrayed objectivity while pushing a left-wing agenda.

If the sale of Current TV to Al Jazeera goes through, the Arabic mega-media entity will have a toehold in the United States to do the same, exact thing, with one exception; Al Jazeera will be about portraying objectivity while pushing a Jihadist agenda.
