Think Progress, which is essentially the media arm of George Soros’ Center for American Progress (CAP), is now engaged in a media campaign to smear Benghazi whistleblower, Gregory Hicks. This is the same Gregory Hicks who Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD), the ranking member of the House Oversight Committee, pledged to protect from intimidation.
It would appear Mr. Cummings has an opportunity to keep his word (socialists never do this if it means harming the collective).
The liberal blog ThinkProgress suddenly reversed its stance on Benghazi whistleblower Gregory Hicks, the State Department’s former deputy chief of mission in Libya, citing unnamed State officials in an attempt to sully Hicks’ testimony before a House committee on Wednesday.
The allegations came less than 48 hours after the website touted Hicks’ testimony as supporting the administration’s position on key aspects of its alleged cover-up following attacks on the Benghazi consulate in September.
Hicks “debunk[ed] right-wing Benghazi conspiracy theories” in his testimony before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, wrote blogger Hayes Brown on Wednesday.
By Friday, Brown was calling into question Hicks’ credibility, sourcing indictments of his management style to anonymous “staffers based in Libya.”
If reminded about his commitment to protect Hicks from smears, Cummings might demur by saying that Think Progress is just a blog and not worth his time. This would belie a fundamental truth that Cummings himself must know. Here is what Think Progress says about itself:
Think Progress is a project of the Center for American Progress Action Fund. The Center for American Progress Action Fund is a nonpartisan organization.
If CAP is “nonpartisan”, why did TIME Magazine call it the Obama administration’s “Idea Factory” in 2009 when it wrote:
…the Center for American Progress (CAP), the most influential independent organization in Obama’s nascent Washington. CAP was the brainchild of former Clinton White House chief of staff John Podesta, who dutifully worked wealthy dinner parties with a simple idea: He would create a new organization, a “think tank on steroids,” to help progressive ideas regain power. Tom Daschle, once the top Democrat in the Senate, got on board, calling it an “action tank.” Sarah Wartell, who would become Podesta’s deputy, had a more homely description: “Not your grandmother’s think tank.”
Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD) has an incredibly despicable skill. He is able to look grieving people in the eye and lie to them about seeking justice while protecting those responsible. He did it with Operation Fast and Furious and he’s doing it with Benghazi.
If Cummings were true to his word, he will call out Obama’s “Idea factory” for attempting to smear someone who Cummings has said he will protect.
The problem is that Cummings is a registered socialist and socialists lie.
