The Patriarch of the Lebanese Maronite Church, which is under the Roman See, Beshara Rai, has called for an organized armed response against ISIS. In a talk with the Catholic Legislators Network, Rai called for
a military force under the hospices of the United Nations and the Security Council to put an end to the invasion by the terrorist organizations.
He continued on to contribute the violence to Western powers, say:
Everyone knows that those countries are victims of international struggle motivated by political, economic and strategic interests [that are] related to the gas and the petrol in those countries.
He then stressed that the world “should put an end to the terrorist organizations and especially ISIS… Christians are ending up paying the heaviest price and their very presence in the region, dating back to the time of Christ, is now in real jeopardy.
We are going to see more and more of these calls for armed responses. They will eventually accumulate and result in a major crusade, the New Crusade.
