A woman in North Carolina was arrested after abandoning her two children by the side of the road and claimed that somebody took them according to a report:
A 38-year-old North Carolina mother has been charged after police said she allegedly abandoned her nine-year-old and 19-month-old on the side of a road.
“I know what I did was wrong, but I just…I was so tired of doing this by myself,” Jennifer Jean Westfall, 38, told ABC11. “I have the strength to do what I need to do but I don’t have the skills to make the income that I need to take care of my family. Nobody will hire me.”
According to The News & Observer, Westfall was arrested on two counts of misdemeanor child abuse after she left the two children on the side of the road in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, near an elementary school.
Another mother saw the two children on the side of the road and called the school’s resource officer, CBS17 reported. The resource officer went and got the kids and brought them to the school.
However, Westfall told ABC11 a different story, claiming that she dropped the kids off on the school’s campus and watched a woman take them by the hand, which she assumed was a legal way to abandon her children.
Westfall was arrested on Monday, October 29, 2018 and was released from jail on Wednesday.
“I’ve been around everywhere,” she told ABC11. “With these charges, I don’t see how I’m ever getting my kids back.” (source)
