There is a lot to be said about the COVID-19 coronavirus, including the fact that the perception of its danger is likely worse than the disease itself. However, one does not make such statements to sick or scared people because it tends to show a disregard for their welfare, or at least, such is how many will perceive or how one’s critics will try to use it. That said, Trump recently declared that the coronavirus is a new “hoax” from the “Democrats” according to NBC News.
President Donald Trump accused Democrats of “politicizing” the deadly coronavirus during a campaign rally here on Friday, claiming that the outbreak is “their new hoax” as he continued to downplay the risk in the U.S.
“Now the Democrats are politicizing the coronavirus,” Trump said. “They have no clue, they can’t even count their votes in Iowa.”
“This is their new hoax,” Trump continued, adding that attacking the Whtie House’s response to the coronavirus had become the Democratic Party’s “single talking point.”
Trump — who has been criticized for painting an overly rosy picture of the outbreak, often contradicting his own health officials — insisted that his administration was “magnificently organized” and “totally prepared.” (source)
It is to be seen how the virus impacts the US. However, it is undeniable that the virus has gravely affected business commerce, manufacturing, and the stock market.
These are not small things.
Trump has two main problems for him right now. First is a credibility crisis, as he completely disregarded his 2016 platform and has made his practical achievements the enforcement of sodomy, the destruction of post-World War II boundaries meant to keep political terrorists under control, and the unlimited giving of stuff to Israel more than any president before him. The second problem is that he has no platform for 2020 other than mocking Democrats because he has not proposed one.
Trump can say what he wants about the coronavirus. If this thing becomes a serious social problem in the US, it does not matter what he says, because people will look for and demand answers, and if he cannot answer, it could jeopardize his election prospects. The Democrats have done an excellent job at making themselves appear to be incompetent and useless, but anything can still happen. I maintain my previous positions, but as unexpected things happen in life, it will be interesting to see how the political situation may or may not affect Trump’s standing in the polls.
These are very interesting times.
