Muslim Accused of Beheading James Foley Applauded by UK’s most Notorious Muslim Scholar

Last year, Great Britain’s most recognizable resident Muslim Anjem Choudary expressed solidarity with Michael Adebolajo, the man who beheaded British soldier Lee Rigby as Shoebat.com reported. It’s now being reported by the Clarion Project that Choudary is likewise expressing support for Abdel-Majed Abdel Bary, the man suspected of beheading James Foley:

Choudary told the Clarion Project that the beheading of Foley by the Islamic State is permissible under sharia (Islamic) law.

“Muslims who abide by the sharia and follow the jurisprudence do not make a distinction between civilians and army,” he said.

“This fellow was not just a civilian of America. He was a journalist,” he stated. Choudary said journalists are responsible for attacking Muslims, including the Islamic State, in the media.

Choudary’s defense of Bary by pointing to Foley as a journalist is indeed interesting because indications are that Foley was sympathetic to the Syrian opposition’s cause. As such, he was actually assisting in the efforts of his ultimate killers.

Various reports claim that Bary was radicalized by Choudary’s acolytes:

London imam Anjem Choudary’s followers reportedly indoctrinated Abdel-Majed Abdel Bary, one of the main suspects in the savage killing of James Foley.

Friends say Bary was persuaded to join the fight in Syria after becoming friends with some of Choudary’s followers.

The New York Post writes the following about Bary:

…he was reportedly radicalized by followers of firebrand Islamic preacher Anjem Choudary and walked out of his family’s plush home in the Maida Vale district of London last year, saying he was “leaving everything for the sake of Allah.”

In June, it was reported by British media that Choudary’s followers make up a contingent of ISIS fighters who are now in Syria:

Former followers of the terror sympathiser have been recruited to join the rebels fighting in Syria and Iraq.

Choudary boasted that young men he has taught have joined Isis, an outfit notorious for beheadings, crucifixions and amputations.

And the Kent-raised radical says it is “no shame” that extremists based in France, Belgium and even Australia and Indonesia share his dream of a global Islamic state.

The UK has allowed Choudary to operate freely on British soil for years without any real consequence. Today, one of those consequences may be the beheading of a U.S. journalist. More far-reaching consequences could be ISIS jihadists returning to the UK where they will murder innocent Brits.

Less than one month prior to Foley’s murder, British Prime Minister David Cameron delivered this message:

Perhaps instead of bending over backwards to appeal to the Muslim community, Mr. Cameron could channel that energy into drawing more attention to Choudary.
