Muslims in Nigeria, who were Fulani herdsmen, murdered nine Christians in the Nwokyo village. The Christians, who are part of the Jukun tribe, decided that all of the violence and bloodshed brought against them by the Fulani Muslims, was enough. The government of Nigeria is not efficiently dealing with the Muslim violence against Christians in Nigeria, and so the Christians have decided to take up weapons and kill off the Fulani.
On Tuesday, the Christians attended the funeral of those killed by the Fulani Muslims, and as they saw the corpses of these martyrs, they made their decision to fight against their Islamic enemy. In the same day, 7:30 PM, the Christians and the Muslims clashed in a fierce battle that lasted until 11:00 AM, when soldiers brought the battle to an end. Although the government said that the battle left seven people dead, the locals have reported fifteen corpses.
But now in the latest report, no fewer than 50 people were killed in the clash. A Christian man named Yakubu Musa Galumje Jnr. was amongst those killed. He was dragged out of his house by Muslims and his head was crushed, and his house was burned down. Yakuba’s brother, Ishaya Gani, is a representative of the Taraba State House of Assembly, and he blames the violence on the government’s incompetence in controlling the Fulani Muslims. He said that the Fulani were making the Christians’ lives unbearable, and thus gave them no choice but to fight.
It is the Fulani, alongside Boko Haram, who has been killing thousands of Christians in Nigeria. In March the Fulani beheaded thirty people and sacked 64 villages. In April 6th of this year, it was reported that the Fulani destroyed 20 churches. Todd Daniels, Regional Manager for ICC, stated in the report:
The inability of the government and military to provide protection for Christians is inexcusable… While certainly there are challenges, the military needs to devote substantial resources to seeing this process brought to an end. There has even been speculation of various government officials being involved in supporting various groups as a means of gaining political leverage. These sorts of acts raise serious questions concerning both the integrity and the aptitude of the Nigerian politicians.
Since the Nigerian government is doing almost nothing to protect the Christians, on account of corruption, the Christians have no choice but to pick their weapons and fight. They have no choice but to be like the warriors of God who “Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, recovered strength from weakness, became valiant in battle, put to flight the armies of foreigners” (Hebrews 11:34). They have no choice but to be like Moses, who “striking the Egyptian, he avenged him who suffered the injury.” (Acts 7:24)
In March of this year, I wrote that the Nigerian Christians must take up arms if they are going to survive. I stated:
Christians in Nigeria need to form militias and not just depend on the military. The levels of violence are high to the point, that the Nigerian saints must all uphold the Sword of St. Peter, and those who have no sword, “let him sell his garment, and buy one.” (Luke 22:36)
Eventually, the Christians of Nigeria, like those of Central Africa, will have to form militias.
This is coming to pass, and eventually Nigeria will be in a civil war, between Christian and Muslim. This is all part of the coming New Crusade that will happen in the future. The Christians are rising up, and declaring, “Enough of the beheadings! Enough of the rapes! Enough of the attacks and the massacres!” They are crying out, “Christus Vincit!”
