A man in Virginia was jailed for life after he was found guilty of sodomizing a boy for ten years according to a report:
A Sterling man has been sentenced to six mandatory life sentences plus 30 years in prison on counts of sexual assault against a child, according to the Loudoun commonwealth’s attorney’s office.
Guillermo Enrique Figueroa-Menendez, 64, was found guilty on six counts of forcible sodomy, two counts of indecent liberties and one count of carnal knowledge.
Judge J. Howe Brown Jr. imposed the life sentences on March 15. The crimes had been going on for 10 years before Figueroa-Menendez was charged.
Two of the victim’s relatives testified at the sentencing hearing earlier this month, according to the the commonwealth’s attorney’s office. Both witnesses urged the court to impose a sentence that would keep Figueroa-Menendez in prison for the remainder of his life.
“I want to be able to assure my son that he never has to worry about this man again,” said the victim’s mother.
A second relative described Figueroa-Menendez as a “predator, abuser, pedophile and sick monster living in our midst.”
Before imposing a sentence, Judge Brown noted that this was one of the worst cases of abuse he’s ever heard.
“There are few crimes that involve such profound betrayal and lasting damage than those where a child is sexually abused,” Chief Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney Nicole Wittmann said in a prepared statement. “The fact that this child is surrounded by a loving family and a community of supporters willing will stand with him as he deals with the impact of this crime, gives us all much hope.” (source)
