When a person migrates to the US, they often given up their former nation of citizenship. However, sometimes citizens are “de-naturalized”, meaning upon coming to the US, their newly acquired American citizenship is stripped in the future. This is usually linked to public examples of political parades or very serious public crimes that embarass the government, but only when caught. For example, while the US will strip the US citizenships of people accused of being National Socialist camp guards or low positions, the US refuses to strip the citizenship of major National Socialist or Japanese imperial war criminals who build, managed, and executed the worst of the crimes of World War II, and these are men such as Wernher von Braun, Shiro Ishii, or Walter Schreiber.
The Trump administration has played up anti-immigrant rhetoric to gain votes and also revive old racism of the past. It is of interest then how now, under the Trump administration, the Justice Department is opening an office to “de-naturalize” migrants who get their legal US citizenship.
The Justice Department said Wednesday that it had created an official section in its immigration office to strip citizenship rights from naturalized immigrants, a move that gives more heft to the Trump administration’s broad efforts to remove from the country immigrants who have committed crimes.
The Denaturalization Section “underscores the department’s commitment to bring justice to terrorists, war criminals, sex offenders and other fraudsters who illegally obtained naturalization,” Joseph H. Hunt, the head of the Justice Department’s civil division, said in a statement.
“The Denaturalization Section will further the department’s efforts to pursue those who unlawfully obtained citizenship status and ensure that they are held accountable for their fraudulent conduct,” Mr. Hunt said.
The move promises to further expand a practice that was once used infrequently, but that the Trump administration has increasingly turned to as part of its immigration crackdown. It has raised alarms among some department lawyers who fear denaturalization lawsuits could be used against immigrants who have not committed serious crimes. (source)
This law is not about “helping America.”
Trump proved this when in spite of his talk about “stopping migration from Muslim nations”, he instead began persecuting Christian migrants attempting to flee American-supported ISIS violence, or people who lived in irregular citizenship arrangements in the US for decades and were productive citizens.
This is strictly about expanding the power of government, and most likely will be used to prosecute people over non-crimes and take away their citizenship. In the future, if this continues to develop with further precedents, it may even (potentially) be used to take away the citizenship of native-born Americans who are considered to be “enemies” of government policies.
Trump has been given his chance to do right for the country, and four years later he has proved to be a craven liar and criminal whose only accomplishments are:
-Expanding US involvement in foreign wars
-Reviving and justifying racialist and nationalistic policies around the world
-Giving lots of money to his friends
-Giving unlimited finances to Israel
-Promoting sodomy around the world
Does anybody really believe Trump is going to do further good for the public at all, be a man “legal” or “illegal?”
If one does, than one deserves what comes to him.
