President Joe Biden just gave the green light to something that Zelensky has wanted for a long time: permission to launch US made missiles into Russia. This has also been the wishes of both Macron of France and Keir Starmer of Great Britain. As we read in the Telegraph:
Joe Biden has given Ukraine the green light to use US-supplied long-range missiles to strike targets within Russia for the first time.
The US President has signed off on the use of ATACMS rockets within the Kursk region, according to the New York Times.
His decision will raise expectations that Britain, the US and France could swiftly authorise Kyiv to use Storm Shadow missiles in the same way.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Ukrainian President, has spent months urging Britain, the US and France to allow him to strike targets within Russia.
Sir Keir Starmer is known to be in favour of green lighting the use of Storm Shadow missiles, as is Emmanuel Macron, the French leader.
This of course would be an escalation on the part of NATO. This could also be a final attempt by Biden to show that he is a strong leader against Russia before he leaves office. Hopefully, the Trump administration will at least bring some pause to this conflict between Russia and the West which (in the long run) will be here for a long time, regardless of any temporary pauses.
