Ivana Hoffman, German woman who was just killed by ISIS while defending the Christian village of Tal Tamr

A young German woman named Ivana Hoffman went to Syria and fought against ISIS. But it is sad to say that she was just recently killed while defending the Christian village of Tal Tamr, an area over which Christian and Kurdish fighters are currently fighting for.

She is the first female westerner to be killed in the fight against ISIS. According to a Mid-East report:

A young German woman has been killed fighting alongside Kurdish forces against Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) group jihadists in northeast Syria, a monitoring group said on Sunday.

Syrian Observatory for Human Rights head Rami Abdel Rahman said the woman in her 20s was “killed in the past few hours” in a battle since Saturday for the Kurdish-held town of Tal Tamr in Hasakeh province.

The German, whose name was not immediately available, would be the third Westerner killed among Kurdish ranks in Syria. She was also a communist and a member of Turkey’s Marxist-Leninist Communist Party.
