A news anchor at an unlikely source – CNN – repeatedly challenged the senior member of a Muslim Brotherhood delegation that visited the White House in April of 2012. Hala Gorani, who speaks Arabic and whose parents are from Syria, had little patience for Abdulmawgoud Dardery’s spin. Most telling perhaps is that after more than one year later, Dardery’s words played back might just make Jay Carney blush.
Sondos Asem (Chalabi), daughter of Muslim Sisterhood leader Manal Abu Hassan, along with Hussein El-Kazzaz and Khaled Al-Qazzaz were the Muslim Brotherhood representatives who joined Dardery, a 9/11 truther who has accused others of conspiracy theories. All visited the White House. At the time of Gorani’s interview, the Brotherhood had secured 47% of the Parliamentary seats with the more extremist Salafists garnering approximately 20% of the seats. The Brotherhood’s candidate for president at the time was Khairat al-Shater, who dropped out the following week due to having been arrested multiple times previously. The Freedom and Justice Party (Muslim Brotherhood) replaced him with Muslim Brotherhood replacement – Mohammed Mursi.
Nonetheless, with the gift of hindsight, it is interesting to see Dardery get fileted by a CNN anchor in April of 2012 for all of the the right reasons. Gorani is vindicated today (unlike a few other CNN hosts we know):
