Louie Gohmert demands Select Committee on Benghazi

Today, in front of the Capitol steps in Washington, D.C., Rep. Louie Gohmert and former congressman Allen West were on-hand to demand the passage of HR 36, a resolution authored by Rep. Frank Wolf (R-VA) to convene a Select Committee to investigate Benghazi. The event, sponsored by the group Special Ops Speaks (SOS), billed as the “ScollOut”, included the unrolling of a 60 foot long petition bearing the names of more than one thousand Special Ops vets.

Here is Gohmert’s speech:

According to the Special Operations Speaks website, guest speakers on the Capitol Stairway included Republican Reps. Steve Stockman, Louie Gohmert, Paul Broun, former U.S. Rep. Allen West, and a host of retired special forces commanders and other conservative community leaders, like Niger Innis from TheTeaParty.net.

As the event was transpiring, Fox News channel, which is the only news network interested in covering the story, ran a segment as the scrollout was taking place. Jonah Goldberg, who was far too kind to Speaker John Boehner, was interviewed during that segment. To his credit, Goldberg is on-board with a Select Committee but to defend Boehner’s inaction by saying he has “an enormous amount of other things on his plate” doesn’t fly. It’s pretty hard to buy that one with Boehner spending so much time wringing his hands over the immigration debate.

C’mon, Jonah.
