Christian Pastor, Doctor, And AIDS Expert Fired By The State Of Georgia For Preaching Against LGBT Wins Big In Religious Discrimination Lawsuit

Several months ago, we covered how Dr. Eric Walsh, an African-American Christian Pastor known for his passionate sermons against homosexuality and who is also HIV/AIDS expert and a member of former President Obama’s Advisory Council for AIDS was fired from his job with the state of Georgia because of his sermons.

After a lengthy battle in court, the State of Georgia has agreed to settle with Dr. Walsh and pay him approximately a quarter million dollars for his trouble:

Today, First Liberty Institute announces they reached a settlement agreement between the state of Georgia and First Liberty’s client, Dr. Eric Walsh. The State of Georgia agreed to pay $225,000 to settle Dr. Walsh’s religious discrimination lawsuit.

“I am grateful this trial has finally ended,” Dr. Eric Walsh says. “It’s been a long, difficult journey, but it’s worth it to have my name cleared and to ensure that all Georgia government employees know they have religious liberty.”

“This is a clear and resounding victory for religious freedom,” Jeremy Dys, senior counsel for First Liberty Institute and counsel for Dr. Walsh, says. “We always knew the law was on our side, so we are pleased the state of Georgia agreed to settle this case and clear Dr. Walsh’s good name.”

Dr. Walsh, a lay minister and former Georgia government employee, filed a lawsuit against the Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) after evidenced surfaced that he had been fired because of his religious beliefs.

In May 2014, Walsh accepted a position as a District Health Director with the DPH. A week later, a DPH official asked him to submit copies of sermons he had previously preached as a lay minister with the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The day after Dr. Walsh provided his sermons to the state, the DPH terminated Dr. Walsh. In April 2016, First Liberty Institute, along with Atlanta law firm Parks, Chesin & Walbert, filed a lawsuit against the DPH on behalf of Dr. Walsh, charging the DPH with religious discrimination. Now there are still issues here- Dr. Walsh should be re-instated to his position, and a formal apology should be made on his behalf by the state of Georgia for what happened to him.

Cases like his are important to follow because they are both a witness to the times and an example to follow. Christianity is under severe attack in Europe and America, and while it may not be immediately visible in the form of violent persecution, it often takes the form first of “soft” persecution- lawsuits, job discrimination, and harassment. For many years, Christians in America were told that if they became “more American” they would be accepted by society.

However, that ideas has been shown to be a huge lie. The more Christians stopped practicing their beliefs the greater society went into decline. The damage is visible and the effects are palpable, and yet the persecution that was told would subside has increased.

It is good that Dr. Walsh received something, but it is not enough in terms of what he should receive in comparison with people who are non-Christians. For instance, would a Muslim simply receive a $225,000 settlement, or would he also get his job back, a formal letter of apology, and a salary increase? The answer is almost absolutely yes. If he was a Jew, he also would likely receive similar treatment. The same goes for pagans too.

What I am driving at here is that Christians need to fight back for what is their own, and they need to hold those who would attempt to bully and harass them for their faith accountable for their actions and in comparison with non-Christians in the same situation. This is not the time to settle, but only to demand the best. This is not about exploiting people- this is about protecting yourself and your faith against people who do not care about you and will look for opportunities to harm you. It is similar to dealing with the Muslims. When the Muslims attack, instead of running away you walk towards them faster and meet them head on. If they wish to fight, then you fight. If they wish to stand off, then you stand off.

Christians in America have had it easy for a long time because Christianity was such an important part of the society. As the changes of decades past began centuries ago are coming to fruition, Christians must adapt to the situation accordingly, and part of the adoption means boldly standing up for the Faith even if it means being the only person left standing.

everybody should note this and keep a copy of the decision or at least the name of the case. if the first church of Sodom if there was such a thing formally named as such has the right to preach sodomy, and the secular version certainly is doing that, the Christian churches have the same religious right to preach against it. This could be a turning point against the flow of anti Christian efforts to stop correct preaching.

Somebody gets in your face about your sermons or anything, you wave this at them.

Eric Walsh v. Georgia Department of Public Health as distinct from Georgia v walsh a DUI case about someone else.

I hope none of that mans family is in the School system in GA… After more than 30 years of persecution from the State of GA due to my dad suing dang near every leader in our County, I have ZERO hope of any type of reform from these wicked peeps…
Dont get your hopes up peeps… These people are HORRIBLE… Watch for this mans family members to be harassed relentlessly… Some may go to Prison… Some may be blacklisted from Jobs… I hope he doesn’t blow that money… He and His Family are going to need it…
And 225 K doesnt go far… Trust me… Watch his family… All of a sudden they all or one member that the judges select will be getting speeding tickets, tail light infractions, frivolous parking violations, suspensions from School, and about a million other things that NEVER happened before this… Dirty to the core…

They really like going after Sons of Fathers who call out their dirty deeds…… Watch… Just Watch…
I was weak and didn’t know why my life turned upside down as a kid… I fell right into their trap…
Thought it was me or something about me was the reason why teachers coaches and School administrators followed me around and gave me a hard time every single day… Never could figure out why I would be a top producer at really hard hard work and be passed over at raise time once a year… Even been pulled over doing nothing wrong and had my Car “Searched” while moving… Just took all my stuff, threw it everywhere, and left me on the side of the I-20 with peeps runnin 80 and 90 past us… With a HUGE mess to clean up in a HIGHLY dangerous spot… Took me hours…

Yet I am the one who turned to alcohol to escape and went right into their trap… So the fault is mine… I was weak… I was weak… What a fool I was…

My Dad never told me about political persecution… I didn’t even know he tried to stop shady backroom deals of politicians… Found out by searching the papers years later… I was just a kid for Gods sake… They have NO mercy…. Watch… Just watch…

Dont be weak like I was… Stay sober…
Watch the wicked ones work on this guys family… Someone needs to warn them… I had no warning…

What you are saying happens all over the place. I’ve seen it in GA and other states where I lived.

Unfortunately, very true…Such harassments, especially during these days, often follow amongst those who boldly stand up against the rising tide of evil.

We are in the midst of the falling away and revolt of Bible prophesy, I believe. The optimal conditions for the rise of Antichrist are here and they continue to fester. This poll aligns with my own daily life experience:

The majority of CHRISTIANS believe in so called homosexual marriage today including Catholic and Orthodox believers. What does this tell us about the faith and formation of the average Christian now?

The spirit of Antichrist has gained ascendancy in media, education and government. The population the Church depends upon to draw its clergy members and educators from has been corrupted by this antichrist propaganda our culture and society is awash with.

Evangelicals have fared better at 31% in favour of homosexual marriage. However that’s still HUGE! 31% of ANY Christian group believing in homosexual ACTS let alone so called marriage would’ve been unthinkable just a generation ago!

Soon, within the next 1-2 generations max (my guess), the majority of our sliding and falling away Church leaders and baptised Christians will convert to this coming Antichrist religion and only Christ Himself will be able to restore Catholic orthodoxy and the natural/divine order. That’ll be the end of the world as we know it, because it’ll be the time for the ‘Final Judgement’, if our suspicions are correct.

In the meantime, even though our Church leaders as a collective are sliding, continue to frequent the sacraments and live your life in “obedience” to Christ and divine law. Do penance and pray for the conversion of sinners daily:

It has often been stated that praying the Holy Rosary daily is a great “sign” of predestination. It is one of the 15 Rosary promises in fact:

When this revolt has been completed and many of our church buildings have been converted to this new syncratic and morally lawless Antichrist religion, we will know about it because the Sacraments will cease and those of us who refuse to comply will be enemy number 1.

Fear not, because Christ has already overcome the world, as have the “obedient” faithful through Him, with Him, in Him in the unity of the Holy Spirit:

    John 15:12-14

12 This is my commandment, that you love one another, as I have loved you.

13 Greater love than this no man hath, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

14 You are my friends, if you do the things that I command you.

    Lord, hear our prayers.

Dr. Eric Walsh is indeed a very brave warrior standing up against evil. I remember you sharing this story several months back.

I also love what St. Pope Felix III said:

“Not to oppose error is to approve it; and not to defend truth is to suppress it; and indeed to neglect to confound evil men, when we can do it, is no less a sin than to encourage them.”

What an unjust settlement. The people responsible for this should have payed all his lost wages, all his legal bills, any other lost moneys, give him his job back, and every single person responsible should have lost their job.

    • mspip

yes they should have been made to do all that….. the world is in a mess and it will not get better until Yashuah returns to the earth.

Its not just the LGBT group who are the worst enemy of this country, its every single person who is making excuses and allowing the LGBTs, illegals, Muslims, loss of all our morals to people who believe they are oppressed, and giving away our jobs/technology/wealth. They all are killing this country. At least it was here when my family fled Germany. But just dont know anymore.

Pish, I just put “Christian”. I also like the fill in the race blank with “American” (knowing full well that’s not what they want to know; it’s a humor thing down here).
