Europe and America were once upon a time known for being places of free speech and expression, especially in comparison to most of the world. Now thanks to political correctness run amok and an obsessive desire to please fringe groups, it has become increasingly criminal to speak about basic issues and social problems without being called a “bigot” or a “racist.”
This is a huge problem in the UK, where the government has been kowtowing to Muslims and Islam for years. Things are so bad now that even speaking out against Islam in general is a crime especially if one is a Christian. That is what happened with three Christian preachers, who were arrested for preaching against Islam and two other evils and are now facing jailtime:
Christian Concern has reported that Michael Overd, Adrian Clark and Michael Stockwell were accused by police of “challenging Islam” and “challenging homosexuality” for their preaching at a Bristol shopping area in July 2016.
The evangelists reportedly engaged with the crowd and pointed out the differences between Islam and Christianity, using references from the Bible and the Quran to speak of “God’s love, and the uniqueness of Jesus Christ.”
Overd was also charged in 2014 for “causing offense” when he publicly denounced the Islamic prophet Muhammad for marrying a 9-year-old girl, and was subsequently interrupted by a police officer and forcefully removed from the area.
The crowd was stirred up after the preachers started saying that “Allah does not exist” and “all Muslims will burn in Hell,” a witness told The Bristol Post. (source)
Now this story is not a good development, and Christians must speak out about it. However, I see the same situation happening in America but not with Islam- with homosexuality.
Both the Old and New Testaments are very clear that God hates homosexuality. It is a sin which sacred scripture calls “worthy of death” and is one of only four sins that “cry out to Heaven for vengeance.” According to the classical Christian writers, it was Jesus Himself who came down to and destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah. The Catholic Church herself has constantly condemned homosexuality throughout the ages because of this- one only needs to get a copy of the Book of Gomorrah by St. Peter Damian to understand this.
Many Americans today- and specifically American conservative Christians- will say they are as proudly “anti-Islam” as they are “pro-LGBT.” One only needs to look at the popularity of the flamboyant homosexual and pederast supporting Milo Yiannopoulos among the “conservative crowd.”
But why just pick on Milo? He is one of many voices that we have profiled here for openly speaking in favor of homosexual behavior or, even more dangerously, speaking out against select real evils when Muslims or Mexicans commit them but then refusing to address them when a self-professed homosexual does the same or worse. The list goes on- Ann Coulter, Steven Crowder, Milo Yiannopoulos, Gavin McInnes, GOProud, and more.
Evil is always evil, and it is needs to be called out for what it is. However, one cannot simply scrutinize one or two evils while not just ignoring, but giving license to and promoting other evils of equal value simply because it is socially expedient to do so.
God became man so that man might become like him. Thus when people accuse us here at Shoebat.com of spreading ‘hate against gays,’ nothing could be further from the truth. Truth be told, we want to love how God loves and to become the men that God wants us to be, and in order to love how God loves and to follow God how He wants us to follow Him we must also hate what God hates, regardless of what the sin is or what people think or do not think about that sin.
So yes, it is not good what is happening in the UK with Islam, and likewise in America too. But do not forget there are other sins of equal hatred that must be addressed because all sin has the same source, and to address one but to promote another is to oppose and love the deceiver from which sin comes, and as the Bible itself says, “no man can serve two masters, for he will hate one and love the other.”
