File this story in the ‘if you live long enough, you get to see everything’ category. Hold on to your hats but we here at Shoebat.com have been accused of being too politically correct. If this demonstrates one thing, it’s that liberals simply can’t process irony.
Earlier this week, we posted a Coca-Cola video ad done in Arabic with English subtitles. The father of the a character named “Tarek” told his son he wanted to be a pilot but because his father was an engineer, he had to choose the same career path.
Our point was – and remains – that the decision by the script writers to have an Arab Muslim man make reference to being a pilot, was an obvious reference to 9/11. So was the reference to being engineers.
Mohamed Atta, the lead hijacker was both an engineer and a pilot. He and seven of the other 19 hijackers were engineers as well. Mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed was as well.
Coca-Cola’s CEO is a Muslim Turk.
In response to this post, we were referred to as being “beyond paranoid” and accused of being too politically correct. In response, we asked the commenter what he thought of the term “illegal alien”, which is obviously frowned upon by the left because… well… it’s politically correct. Suffice it to say, he did not see the hypocrisy or irony:
He was proving to be an interesting study so we baited the hook again in an attempt to get him to chime on the Washington Redskins controversy, which is the poster child for politically correct idiocy. Initially, the commenter nibbled at the bait because he saw the hook. However, he just couldn’t stay away and took the bait:
The truth is that political correctness is a weapon of fundamentalist Muslims and the left. However, when the standard is applied to them, they cry foul.
The main difference is that when it comes to the Coca-Cola ad, this is not about political correctness. It is about an obvious, yet subtle attempt to rub the noses of Americans in 9/11. Engineer? Pilot? Arabic dialogue?
Puh…lease.
Our friendly commenter has fallen for it hook, line and sinker.
