The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is changing its rules in the middle of a huge scandal so that it can continue its pattern of discrimination and profiling. Yet, Congressional committee members who have been investigating the scandal still have said or done nothing about Lois Lerner’s signature at the bottom of a tax-exempt approval letter for a foundation whose president works for a State Sponsor of Terrorism. In back-dating the application thirty-eight months, Lerner also committed a felony. Taken together, she should go to prison for a long time.
The man who Lerner aided and abetted also happens to be Barack Obama’s half-brother Malik Obama but first, back to this latest development.
Instead of viewing itself as culpable in targeting Tea Party groups, the IRS is arrogantly rationalizing its behavior and changing the rules. Here is an exchange between Fox News’ Megyn Kelly and Jay Sekulow from the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) (h/t WZ):
When the IRS scandal broke on May 10th, it had been revealed that conservative and Tea Party groups had been specifically targeted for application delay. Such organizations that applied for tax-exempt status were being made to jump through ridiculous hoops. After several years – and even months after the scandal has broken – many of those organizations are still waiting.
The IRS, however, isn’t working hard to fix the problem. No, it’s exacerbating it in pure Saul Alinsky-inspired form. Alinsky, whose one-word mantra was “fight” would be proud. In fact, that the IRS is doing this actually indicates Barack Obama’s fingerprints. The IRS is actually shape shifting into a manufactured reality in which these Tea Party groups actually did break the rules. It’s just that the rules weren’t in place at the time these groups were operating. Tea Party groups whose applications were delayed are now being issued new restrictions on how they can spend their money.
In the U.S. House, the Oversight Committee headed by Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) and the Ways and Means Committee, headed by Rep. Dave Camp (R-MI), continue to investigate the scandal, the IRS has just gone on offense at a time when it should be reeling. The committees in place to hold them accountable now suddenly find themselves on defense.
If Issa and Camp were serious about neutralizing this latest move by the IRS, introducing the Malik Obama angle to the scandal would almost certainly do it. We already know that Rep. Mike Kelly (R-PA), who sits on the House Ways and Means Committee, not only knows about the scandal but has said the charges are “spot on”.
Back on August 29th, when asked about (audio here) the portion of the scandal involving Malik and Lerner, Kelly said that he was aware of it. In explaining why his committee hasn’t said or done anything about it, Kelly asked for patience and said his committee was important but small and that it had tens of thousands of documents to go through. With all due respect Congressman, the documents pertaining to Malik Obama, Lois Lerner, Sudan, Omar Al-Bashir, etc. should go to the top of the stack.
If you’re unfamiliar with how Malik Obama figures in to the IRS scandal, here is a short video that should help explain it.
