By BI: 20-year-old Muslim, Zakiy Muhammad, was arrested after he was found reclining inside a woman’s vehicle, wearing her slippers, and refusing to get out. He told the vehicle owner that he was “sent by Allah” before officers arrested him late Tuesday, township police said.
NJ.com The 68-year-old woman was just dropped off from a bus trip at the Wyckoff YMCA when she found Zakiy I. Muhammad lying in the car with the seat back around 11 p.m., according to Chief Benjamin Fox. When the woman yelled at Muhammad to leave, he told her Allah sent him.
The bus driver and other good Samaritans rushed to help, getting him into the bus before police arrived.
“The man initially gave the officers a fictitious name and address and continued to state that he had been sent there by Allah,” Fox added. The situation became more bizarre when officers discovered Muhammad had kicked off his shoes in the car and was wearing a pair of slippers the woman recently purchased.
Muhammad, 20, was charged with burglary of an automobile, providing false information to hinder his apprehension, resisting arrest and theft, authorities said. He was ordered held at the Bergen County Jail in lieu of $3,500 bail.
