This was an act of terrorism, no matter how one says it. The people on that flight had every reason to be afraid:
Shehraz Sarwar was on an Emirates flight from Dubai to Birmingham when he terrified fellow passengers, chanting “Allahu Akbar” over and over again.
The 38-year-old has now been jailed for 10 weeks following the incident.
Prosecutor Patrick Sullivan told Birmingham Crown Court Sarwar had been difficult from the start of the flight, refusing to put on his seat belt and throwing food around inside the cabin.
…
“When the plane landed he did shout out ‘boom’.
“It was a very foolish thing to do and he can’t really explain why he said it.”
But Judge Francis Laird QC told Sarwar in court: “Set in the context of the current political situation, chanting ‘Allahu Akbar’ over and over again while on a plane had a frightening effect on some of the passengers and reduced some to tears.
This Muslim knew exactly what he was doing and why he did it. Terrorism is more than just bombs- it is about striking fear into the hearts of non-Muslims to they acquiesce to Muslim demands.
The only problem I really see here is with the passengers. Instead of breaking down in fear, why did not somebody take this guy down? Who cares about “political correctness” if you are going to die? It is always better to go down fighting than submit passively unto the same end.
