Two Muslims in Garland Texas were shot dead today (Sunday) afternoon in the parking lot outside the Curtis Culwell Center, where the American Freedom Defense Initiative was hosting its inaugural Muhammad Cartoon Exhibit and $10,000 Cartoon Contest.
Police authorities had beefed up their presence at the event. Police said two men then pulled up in a vehicle and shot a Garland ISD Police officer outside the building. The men were then shot and killed by Garland police. The officer who was shot remains in a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
An officer dressed in SWAT gear took the stage toward the end of the event at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland and told attendees, including an Associated Press reporter, that a shooting had occurred. He said one officer and two suspects were shot.
The cartoon exhibit featured “images of Islam’s prophet, both historic and contemporary, and speeches by leading voices of freedom and internationally renowned free speech advocates,” according to an AFDI release.
SWAT initially held attendees in a room in the Culwell center, while authorities dealt with the shooting in the parking lot. Later, they took everyone to nearby Naaman Forest High School.
Garland police say nearby Walmart evacuated as a precaution in case of explosives while they search suspects’ car.
Garland Texas has had such freedom events in January where it has angered Muslims.
Sunday’s event was hosted by the American Freedom Defense Initiative, a group led by Islam critic Pamela Geller. Wilders, who is head of the Party for Freedom, tweeted after the shooting that he had just left the venue.
In January protesters Geller’s event were holding signs against Shariah Law and the Islamic State in Garland Texas while Muslims organized “Stand with the prophet against hate and terror” event that aimed according to them to “challenge growing Islamophobia in American society,” which was held less than two weeks after Parisians’ lives were rattled by terrorist attacks committed by radical Islamic jihadists that left 17 people dead.

UPDATE
In the video from USA Today it appears that a bearded man with a trimmed mustache is seen arrested (see at the near end of the video) while in the beginning the police said “need medics one of us is down” (he is obviously Muslim):
UPDATE
Gateway Pundit reported that a tweet titled Sharia Is Light tweeted prior to the shooting this message:
Interpretation:
“The brother with me and myself have given allegiance to Amirul Mu’mineen (Prince of the Faithful). May Allah accept us as mujahideen”
Amirul Mu’minin or The Prince of the Faithful can only be interpreted as the current Caliph Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi of ISIS. This would mean that the two are lone wolves who gave allegiance to ISIS. The addition of “#texasattack,” shows that the code Texas Attack is at the Muhammad Art Exhibition in Garland Texas.
What needs to be determined is if the time on the tweet is Texas time and if it is, it was sent before the shooting. Shoebat.com will examine this further.
UPDATE
It appears that the time of the tweet was 15 to 20 minutes before the shooting. This confirms that this tweet is linked to the attack and that the two terrorists are ISIS lone wolves.
