An American Christian man named Keith Broomfield went to Iraq to fight ISIS, and defend their victims, including Christians. He believed that it was God’s will that he go to Iraq and fight ISIS. According to his mother, Donna Broomfield, said:
I didn’t want him to go but I didn’t have a choice in the matter. He turned his life over to the Lord and he decided this was God’s will and God wanted him to do it.
His sister, Jennifer Broomfield, said:
My brother died to defend my sisters who are being sold, enslaved, raped and murdered.
Kurdish forces also released a statement stating that Broomfield “was a warrior with the courage and the heart of a lion”, and they also declared that Broomfield is a “martyr.”

Those who die for the Faith, in battle or in persecution, are martyrs. For while one death is in war and the other in the oppressions of a tyrant, they are both in the heat of combat, spiritual combat, between the Sword of the Spirit and the armies of demons, who are continuously devising ways to attack the saints, but who always flee at the sight of the Cross which all the holy warriors carry.
