The Trump Administration Is Keeping Troops In Syria To Protect Oil Fields. Soldiers Aren’t ‘Fighting For Our Freedom,’ But For American Industry

By Theodore Shoebat

The Trump administration is keeping troops in Syria to protect oil fields. Eight-hundred soldiers will be in an area of 150 kilometers from Deir ez-Zor to al-Hasakah. Six hundred of these soldiers will be positioned in the Kurdish dominated northeast, while another two hundred will be placed in al-Tanf in the south. While the US is protecting her oil interests, Trump is in cahoots with president Erdogan. Trump recently said:

“President Erdogan wants to come to the White House. We have a very good relationship. … We’ve kept the oil, we stayed back and kept the oil. Other people can patrol the border of Syria … Turkey — let them —, they’ve been fighting for a thousand years, let them do the border. We don’t want to do that, we want to bring our soldiers home, but we did leave soldiers because we’re keeping the oil.”

This one statement exemplifies the scheme of the Americans: allow the Turkish empire in the Middle East to form while the US protects her oil interests. Soldiers are merely the killing arm for the expansion of American industry. They are not ‘fighting for our freedoms’ but for the freedom of American industrial complex, military and corporatist.
