TJ Joseph, a Christian professor of Newman College in India, was attacked by a Muslim mob after being accused of blasphemy against the prophet Muhammad. The Muslims cut his hand, and part of his arm, right off in Muvattupuzha.

A case was observed in Kerala, and one man, Sajan George, president of the Global Council of Indian Christians, said:
The case of Professor Joseph was one of the darkest pages in Kerala’s recent history
He added that the most the most serious part of the conundrum:
was the attitude of the police, who registered the complaint against him and also arrested him, and of the institution, which has suspended him from duty . Fortunately, the Mahatma Gandhi University, to which Newman College is affiliated, revoked the decision of the school authorities and have offered him his job back
