The jizya is a tax Islam imposes on non-Muslims. It comes from Koran 9:29:
Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Apostle, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth , (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.
Now there are various ways that Muslims choose to apply it, but ultimately is is all the same thing- “protection money.” Basically, if you pay the money, then they *might* leave you alone- for now. If you don’t pay, then it is usually convert to Islam or die. ISIS’s most recent murder of 16 Ethiopian Christians proves this true again:
(ISIS) released a horrifying clip of the mass execution as they continue to wage war on those who do not follow their sick ideals.
Ethiopian Christians can be seen dressed in orange jumpsuits with dozens of masked terrorists standing behind them.
The 29-minute video shows the jihadis separate the Christians into two groups on a beach in Libya.
In distressing scenes one group is then shot and the other beheaded.
The terrorists describe the men as “followers of the cross from the enemy Ethiopian Church”.
ISIS claim the men did not pay a compulsory religious tax and were left with one option – to convert.
These men were murdered out of hatred for their Christianity, and they are modern day martyrs.
On that note, don’t ever let a Muslim tell you the jizya is “just a little thing” or “it doesn’t matter,” because it does matter. If it did not, then why are these men being murdered for Allah?
