Ever since the end of the Second World War, the US has had a troop presence in Germany. As Trump goes through an unprecedented ‘reduction’ in her troop presence in Germany, Reuters news reports that Germany’s neighbor of Poland has asked the US to relocate said troops to Poland.
Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said on Saturday he hoped that some of the U.S. troops that are set to be removed from Germany will be reassigned to Poland.
U.S. President Donald Trump has ordered the Pentagon to cut the number of U.S. troops stationed in Germany, a senior U.S. official said on Friday. The move would reduce the U.S. troop presence in Germany by 9,500 troops from the 34,500 troops that are currently permanently assigned there.
“I deeply hope that as a result of the many talks that we had … part of the troops based today in Germany which are being removed by the United States … will indeed come to Poland,” Morawiecki told private radio RMF24. “The decision is now on the U.S. side.” (source)
The reason for this is obvious.
Poland and Germany may be “friends” on the surface, but Poland does not trust Germany. She knows better, having been continually invaded, attacked, and ripped apart by Germany for over a thousand years.
Poland knows that war is coming too. She is probably in the best position to know such since her history is that of being annihilated by Germany and Russia over and over and over again. She knows the signs of what is coming, and they are not hard to spot for those who pay close attention to the news and actions.
Poland wants US troops in Poland not because she has a particular love of the US. Rather, it is because that US is a deterrent to her being savagely raped by Germany. She knows that it is inevitably that she will experience horrible violence, but the question always remains to what extent the violence will be, and how intense, and if there is any way to mitigate it. This is where the US comes in, for as it was the US who rebuilt Germany after World War II, and seeing the US release troops from Germany- which will encourage Germany to militarization -Poland wants the troop difference so that Germany, recognizing US interests, may instead pass through instead of beat up, abuse, and enslave her again while on the way to attack Russia.
Will the US put troops there? Or will they pull out completely, and possibly, having used Poland for her interests, leave Poland all together eventually and at the mercy of the Teutonic war machine?
It is yet to be seen.
