It’s Ramadan again, a time of Islamic fasting and prayer, and attacking non-Muslims who do not do the same.
This man, Francis Emmanuel, was coming out of a restaurant where he just picked up some food when a group of six Muslims approached him. They asked him why he had food and when he said he said he was not fasting because he is a Christian, they viciously beat him and then proceeded to stab him with daggers and hack his limbs with machetes. Miraculously he survived, but his body was covered with stab and cut wounds, and his right arm almost had to be amputated due to the attack:
A Christian man was stabbed severely on Wednesday at a restaurant in Kakuri in the city of Kaduna by a gang of six youths, believed to be Muslims who were armed with daggers. The victim, 41-year-old Francis Emmanuel, was allegedly attacked for not observing the Ramadan tradition of fasting.
“I went to buy wood to do some work. When I came back, I bought food to eat. As I was eating, about six Hausa boys came and asked me whether I was a Muslim or a Christian. I did not answer them. They asked me why I was not fasting. I told them that I am not a Muslim. As I stood up, the rest came and surrounded me and started attacking me,” Emmanuel said, as quoted by The News Nigeria.
“They used cutlasses, scissors and knives. I became unconscious; I don’t even know who brought me to the hospital,” he continued.
Emmanuel was rushed to St. Gerald Catholic Hospital about a kilometer from Sokoto Street, Kakuri, where the incident happened. He almost lost his right arm from wedging off cuts. He also sustained deep machete cuts on various areas of his body, especially around his left chin and back.
