Islam is evil religion, but one must never forget that the people who follow these religions are also human. There are men who are better or worse, good and bad in each. For example, while President Bashar Al-Asad of Syria is a Muslim, he is beloved by both the Christians and Shia Muslims because he has made himself a protector of religious freedom against Sunni terrorists like ISIS.
One thing that is clear in Islamic history is that while all of Islam is anti-Christian, the Shias are far more Christian-friendly than the Sunnis are, and the Shias are also more likely to embrace Christianity generally speaking than the Sunnis. While I do not want to go so far as to say that Christians and Shias are “allies,” they certainly share more common interests with each other than the Sunnis do and can get along much easier.
Such is with the following story from Syria, where a Shia Muslim named Abu Azrael, who is called the “Father of the archangel of death” and “Iraq’s Rambo” is not only Iraq’s national Tae Kwon Do and former university professor, but he is also pledged his own personal war against ISIS. With a submachine gun or rifle in one hand and an axe in the other, he has personally done and promises ISIS that he will continue ‘chop them up like shawarma’ when he finds them:
The ‘Iraqi Rambo’ was also known to carry a large sword with him – and once sliced up a jihadi he had burned to death while warning: “ISIS this will be your fate, we will cut you like shawarma”.
…
The huge militant, who has returned to “pulverise” the bloodthirsty terror fighters, was caught on camera spraying the jihadi frontline with machine gun bullets as the militia push forward into the city.
Abu Azrael is the poster boy of Shi’a militia group the Imam Ali brigade, and is believed to have decided to join the battle after a representative of Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani issued a call to arms in Friday prayers in 2014.
It is good not only to remember that there are also Muslims, such him and the Peshmerga, who are fighting alongside the Christians against Muslim terrorists, but that while Islamic terrorism is an inherent part of Islam it still requires the free will of man to fulfill it. In other words, Muslims can choose to disobey Islam, and as such they are capable of changing their minds and, with the help and grace of God, embrace the true path of submission that is found in Christ. It is all the more reason why in addition to praying for our enemies, we must pray for people like Abu Azrael, who are Muslims of (what appears to be) good will in the fight against evil.
